I'm just hung up on that. Yeah, the single gets returned, in a sense, and the album is purchased. This causes sales to potentially drop a LOT on album release week, and can also affect Hot 100 position if bad enough. Some songs even end up losing sales for the week (more complete albums than actual single sales = sales loss for the week). I think "Hold It Against Me" had a big drop on Hot 100 due to this. But then the next week they rebound no problem. wellp. that's not really....an effective practice. What's the big deal with just making it both, you are still paying ~$13 for the album. Some people got a 1.29 discount is all lol. I should rally billboard to change it. but whatever. sigh. I will buy both.
