So far we have words like 'gong', and 'nostalgic'. I can see it now everyone jamming in a club to a song that sings about reading and banging a gong

So is this referencing critics again?  Maybe talking about Born This Way and the reaction to it; some said it was very 80's/too referential  (hence: 'nostalgia') and came across as cheesy ('geeks') ; this might be the 'theory' she's referring to. But then she's saying, 'I hear what you're saying but I disagree and some of us like to read (as in read about the past? and learn from it and take what worked and make a modern twist of it?)...

 

I have no idea.

 

This is what I initially thought, too.  She's referenced this era as the artist taking control of their work rather than the media or corporations - it would be a diss track.  But these lyrics don't really fit in with the baby I could bare being away from you lyrics...
