Maybe talking about Born This Way and the reaction to it; some said it was very 80's/too referential (hence: 'nostalgia') and came across as cheesy ('geeks') ; this might be the 'theory' she's referring to. But then she's saying, 'I hear what you're saying but I disagree and some of us like to read (as in read about the past? and learn from it and take what worked and make a modern twist of it?)...
