Compared to her previous debuts this really is disappointing. And yes, I am considering the messy release

Well, if it wasnt for Roar she will be no 1.

Applause is still at #2? I knew that BTW damaged her, but I was expecting complete domination by the end of today. If a song about gay empowerment can sell almost one million copies in seven says, then a song designed for the radios should do the same. Or even better. Oh well

Well BTW song debuted really high but in the end it failed to sell 4 million copies. I would rather Applause to debut with lower numbers and with longevity.

why do people consider applause designed for the radio? the chorus is incomprehensible, you can't fathom what she's saying unless you listen to it time after time and/or know the lyrics beforehand, not very radio friendly

If it wasn't for Roar she'd be at #1 with a 0.3 lead. But I'm just remembering our predictions. Most of them were like

Applause 1.000

Roar 0.500

Blurred Lines 0.400

Wake Me Up 0.100

:smh:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't understand what she was saying on some parts of the song.

I've been streaming the song non stop though!

but after a week on Roar on no 1. The competition is strong. And Applause is still rising. Thats great.

We can't sit here and compare the two. Her previous debut came off the heels of an ENORMOUS hot streak, major public hype, and the Grammys. She's gone through a backlash since then and she's been out of the spotlight for quite some time, and has had to prematurely start the single a week early. The song is doing very well and it just started.

it would be at .5 lead actually.

The chorus screams radio, imo. It just sounds amazingly catchy when you're driving.

Of course! It's just funny how we all had such monstrous expectations. As long as it has longevity, I am pleased :)
