This will all be another epic silly meldown on GGD when the true numbers come out from Billboard. There are so many variables, and Kworb has been proven wrong times before. It's not accurate all the times, and you all are taking it way too seriously.

U guys don't understand the serious implications in this. We cannot be second to Katy. The future of Gaga's career depends on topping Katy. They are from the same generation and cannot coexist. Only one will survive in the long run. We already know who the Mandy Moore/ Jessica Simpson was, and that was Kesha.

Oh God light red update and this does not look like a glitch. My heart sank.

You, my friend, need meds.

I can't with you guys she is n1 in almost 40 countries and top 10 (mostly 2/3) in 40 other countries and only katy blocking her in the us right now and you act like this is the ending of her carrier because she didn't get that 1 spot the first day. Of course it is gonna be hard be 1 when she is up against someone like katy who released a single yesterday and she is coming from a era with 7 #1 and been only away for less then a year. and gaga who's last single floped and she has been gone for almost 2 years! Also Applause shouldn't be out until next monday! thanks to the leak everything got really messy but she is handled it fine. Wait at least to after the video and the vma's before getting depressed for nothing.

I'm pleased with Gaga's international performance. 1 appears to be attainable in the UK as well.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the US though. It's unbelievable to me that Applause seems to be slowing down. Two years ago she would have been dominating Katy on iTunes after a couple of hours. Still hoping that the video/VMAs boost it stateside.

Keep in mind that Katy's single has been heavily promoted and Gaga's single was very short-notice. Gaga probably would have had a much larger bigger climb if she'd been able to stick to her original release date.

It's a bit naive to expect a rush-released single to instantly dominate a heavily promoted single, even if it's Gaga.

It isn't that surprising to me. Katy has always been a strong digital seller. Plus, she had a proper release while Gaga's was rushed. Katy already had a huge lead by the time Applause was released.

Also, I think a big reason Gaga is having a hard time overtaking Katy is that they're both new releases and their fan bases (outside of the internet) probably overlap quite a bit. When people sign on to buy new songs, they'll probably buy both songs.

Funny, if Gaga was flopping worldwide but was #1 in the US y'all would be like "OMG QUEEN SLAY KATY"

i'm gonna ask this one last time and please please could i get an accurate, definite answer. Does the pre-order of ARTPOP affect Applause's position on the singles chart? yay or nay? if not then i think we shouldn't worry as much, especially since bb said they would count those copies as sales, so much drama lmao
