MelbHawker 6,583 Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 I have to say I am agree with all, except for kathy Bates, I love her for Misey of course, but her performance in Coven is kind of lame and stupid respect others characters, it's like the useless part that she had Cloe Sevigny in the last season... I was expected a lot more from the character of Bates... Bates does an impeccable job with the material she's given in Coven. My personal favourite scene from Coven was the opening scene in the first episode where we see LaLaurie (Bates) as evil. That's where Bates blew my mind. The writers have changed her character so dramatically - it's all with a good message - but they've 'dumbed' the character down so much. It's more comedic than evil. When I heard she was playing a racist serial killer from the 1800's I was so excited because I know Bates can really put on a show for her audience. But yes, we've only had a few glimpses of evil, for the most part the character has been pushed into the background and has been made a comedic aspect of the show. Not wise IMO.
