If Katy releases her single the same day as Gaga's, this is what I imagine happening:

1. Gaga demolishes all competition with first week sales. Katy's debut is decent, but doesn't compare.

2. A few weeks later Gaga's single starts to plummet fast

3. Katy's single holds on or rises past Gaga's

4. Katy's goes number on Hot 100, Pop Radio, and sells over 4 or 5 million copies

5. Gaga has already moved on to 2nd single

:akwney:

Sooo... BTW 2.0? :awkney:

I think Gaga's lead single will be bigger than Katy's, especially since the iTunes/radio charts are beginning to move away from anything and everything that has a Dr. Luke beat behind it and Katy usually doesn't step out of her comfort zone. Katy will still be successful, but I feel like Gaga is going to bring something really fresh and unique that's going to make big waves.

Isn't Katy suppose to be having a "dark" era with whatever she releases next?  :hipster:

"Dark" for her is probably a song about licorice. :awkney:

Very rarely does dark pop music do well. Lets just hope she sticks to her plan :reductive:

I'm here for Katy flopping only because there is one Katy stan that's been trying it with Britney lately and she/he/it needs a lesson [not on this forum tho] AND I want any and all Dr.Luke material to FLOP so that Britney's music never touches him EVER again.

But aside from that...

I don't know what it shipped, but it only sold 350k, which is half the sales of his last acoustic album.

Oh.

Still good for an acoustic album if you ask me. :teehee:

But, yeah, I see what you mean.

Ariana is really talented, but there is something not really interesting about her. She needs to do something that defines her image and music

It would be a smart move tbh  :giggle:

It would be, and I'm really wondering why Gaga decided not to go with Zedd for the lead single. She was all about that "fresh" sound before, but she decided to play it (somewhat) safe and go with DJWS for the lead. Honestly, I'd rather hear a Zedd song first. I just hope it isn't overproduced (DJWS' specialty, apparently).

Interesting or not, that song BOPS. Or that part of the song at least. :rip:

She's lifeless though. No personality. No one is gonna care about her if she doesn't make a name for herself. Maybe she will with a VMA performance?

I think the songs produced by Zedd will be the best on ARTPOP, and if Katy has some by him, it will her best songs too. #callinit #markmywords

And about Ariana she needs to bring something more to the table, amazing vocals won't be enough. Britney did it with In The Zone and Blackout, Gaga did it with The Fame Monster and Born This Way, Rihanna did it with GGGB and Rated R (even that Rated R and Blackout weren't that successful, it was something different and in my opinion important to their careers), Madonna, MJ and many other artist who had success after their 3-4 album did it too
