If Crazy Kids is a hit, that'll be a bit eerie.

Die Young = Born This Way (smash)

C'mon = Judas (Flop)

Crazy Kids = The Edge of Glory (hit)

:awkney:

Born This Way is the last era I could remember where the 1st and 3rd singles were hits while the 2nd single flopped :awkney:

Interesting resemblance between the two. Moreover, Taylor Swift's Red also comes to mind. Her second single, Begin Again, even though it's certified platinum, wasn't anywhere near close to the huge successes of the lead single, WANEGBT (3x platinum), and the 3rd single, IKYWT (4x platinum).

I think 2nd singles tend to be overshadowed by the chart performances of the generally well-recieved lead singles. And if they're overshadowed, it tends to make it easier for the succeeding singles to relatively perform better. Of course, there are also a lot of exceptions, such as Bruno Mars, Rihanna, and others. I guess it depends to the timing of the release.

Exactly. We shouldn't forget that Judas and C'mon had rushed releases when the lead singles were still selling relatively well...

Agreed.  :yes: It took over 3 months after the release of Diamonds (late September) for Stay (early January) to be officially pushed as the next single. And now, Stay even outsold Diamonds partly because of how it was released and promoted. Same goes for the first two singles of Bruno Mars from UJ.

Not his first song and not his first single even! :laughga:
