well, after all the Lorde threads popping out everywhere here in GGD, I kind of lost interest to her. But I'm trying to absorb the album. Maybe I could like it if I will listen on it through earphones, as I'm only playing the album on a laptop.

Plus it didn't help that I always grew tired of artists that you recently like, I don't know why is that happening to me most of the time. :teehee:

The one that stays is the one who truly appreciates :whitney:

As much as I hated her previous statements, I kind of agree with this one

"I have been writing LG5 since I was 13"

I like her explanation.

In general, she kinda comes off as a smart-ass (am I just reading the wrong interviews/articles?), but I can't disagree with her. Also, her answers are a lot more intelligible than a lot of her older peers. Hmm.

That's part of the reason like I her.  Aren't we all smart asses?  It's just that stars, celebrities, and basically anyone professional tries to cover it up and pretend like they are some saint.  Not so much in the sense that they are pure and religion, but in the sense that they are charitable, have respectable beliefs, represent youth, support gays, wants to end bullying, etc.  Especially in the past few years, it's basically impossible to be a pop star without spending every dying breath talking about how equal you think everyone is and how much you hate discrimination and bullying.  Obviously someone like Gaga saying this is genuine, but most people aren't.

Lorde's smart ass comments are basically things that every 16 year old middle class suburban teen would say.  She really connects on a very personal and real level without even trying.  She does it by just being her.

That's also why I love her music and why I feel like so many others like it.  It's been a trend for a while that we sing of exciting things like partying, relationships, being famous, etc.  The truth is that suburban teens in general live a very boring, hollow, and empty life.

Her music is something that you hear and it's like "wow, that's my life!" Lorde isn't trying to connect with anybody, it's just that she is so average that other teens feeling exactly like she does completely understand.  A lot of people from a lower or higher class, people living in a big city, or even in their 20's wouldn't understand.  No wonder why so many people here don't get it.

Her music was really addressing middle class suburban teenagers just like herself.

PS: I ended up writing a lot and it's late so I won't bother proof reading ;).
