River 130,016
I'm pretty nervous about these elections, I know that the other candidates are not perfect (except for Yair Golan who's the only one who speaks about 2 states solution and a coalition with the arabic-Israeli parties), but they are better than anything Netanyahu and he's coalition. I know that for all of you the elections is about Palestine, but for Israel is not, it's about the inner conflicts and problems within the country, it's fixing the country and kicking out Netanyahu or losing the country to Netanyahu, Ben Gvit and Smotrich once again and everything will get worst, to Israelis and to Palestinians as well, and if you thoughts that what the Palestinians been through in the last 4 years was the worst, I'm sad to tell you, but this is was only a promo of what Netanyahu is capable to do. He's a lunatic psychopath dictator, who believes that without him Israel would cease to exist and he's voters worshiping him like he's a god, it's worst than MAGA. truly worst. Anyway, I'm not speaking as a mod now, but as a friend, as someone who's scarified a lot for this conflict, from a personal loss, my freedom, my life in Israel that I left 14 years ago, been far from my family, all I'm asking is.. please don't let this thread become a sh-tshow And please be patient with me, and if I'm starting an argument, or been defensive, or attacking.. just ignore me. I'm frustrated and scared And I hope that after a while, ya'll would discover that Israelis are not so bad, but the whole system has been poisoning them since 96 when Netanyahu entered the politics and many young people grew up only knowing him as a prime minister and he did the best to destroy their education with his propaganda and fearmongering. tl:dr - Please be patient with me and ignore me if I behave bad, I'm very emotional about these elections. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy 7 9
Bambino 24,547
If you're reading news, you can tell Bibi is losing his mind trying to start **** up prior to the elections just to scare Israelis into voting for him. I hope people there, especially the Arab community, are aware just enough not to be fooled by his Bibi's foolish threats regarding Iran or even the Palestinian Authority. I don't expect a 'free Palestine' with a new government but there has never been a more vile government than the current one with Ben-Gvir and Smotrich in it. These two are the reason why things flared up in the recent years in the West Bank. I also find it very silly that these two have been making remarks regarding the PA, trying to paint it as a severe threat when anyone with basic knowledge know PA is as quite as the next country when it comes to Israel. They literally still are hung up on a two-state solution and co-existence but Bibi isn't concerned about that. Anyway, hope the far-right is out. Yep, from what I've seen Eisenkot is the better option out of the likely frontrunners and potential winners. He will go after Netanyahu & his most corrupt cronies, at least outwardly is a little less worse on the West Bank, opposes regime change in Iran as a method of solving that particular issue, and is someone who the western political leaders (excluding Trumpists) will find easier to work with and maybe score some improvements. He is anti-2 state solution now (which tbh I'm not even sure is viable anymore) but prior to Oct 7th 2023 was not opposed to it so there's working room there. Honestly, just having Netanyahu out is the big first step. It's no secret he's allowed this war and prolonged/expanded it to avoid the numerous anti-corruption cases swirling around him prior to Oct 7th. Don't think it's been viable since the 60s tbh - JFK's death was the end of it's viability. Carter's term was the absolute end of it otherwise. Personal opinion - It is a shame it's none viable. I don't believe one state solutions work based on when we've tried to force them. They just inevitably entrench the divide and make it a permanent political feature rather than something that to be corrected. But equally, the geography of the region makes a 2 state solution very difficult to implement without massive sustained international policing presences. Which again, doesn't really create fertile conditions for lasting peace. The gays know how to party
