NewEnglandWitch 306
Oof. The price hike is what nearly tanked the PS3 and Xbox has yet to truly outperform Playstation. This would not be a good move. Playstation would absolutely capitalize on that and undercut Xbox.
Bronco 29,042
Ngl I'm shocked Xbox is launching another console given how much they pivoted to pc gaming crossover. The gays know how to party
GregJA 5,656
That's the price of PC handhelds now so I could see it... I mean they won't sell many to the average consumer but then again the Xbox series X/S haven't sold well either Mr. No Award Winner 2020

I think all next Gen consoles are gonna go up massively in price tbh. Because they’ve seen the need to accommodate for the tech specs and now consoles are basically just not fully working PCs at this point. I'm just surprised Xbox is committing to a new console. Especially with the costs equalising with PCs and fighting for the same parts. Unless the next gen xbox is a steam deck competitor, I'm just surprised they'd keep fighting a console war they lost years ago. RAMROD 118,438
LMAO good on them to keep trying, I can say that much. But with nobody buying Series C or S, I wonder if the new gen will sell at all. Especially if they are not going to to keep physical disc.

Since they’re under new leadership I suspect they’re going to do just that. I think almost every console starting from the next Gen is basically gonna be like Steam Deck. No discs, basically just almost like an emulator or “streamer” with some features to differentiate themselves and maybe some different hardware. Since PlayStation is already eliminating physical discs all together anyway.

Judging from their comments about subsidising costs, I presume they’re basically saying “unless the console and games sell, we have no choice but to out the costs up”
EART HL I NG 1,667
Hmm with the rumor that the next Xbox would be a hybrid pc rather than a full on console, if it has better components than the Steam Machine it might be worth the price because Valve kind of flubbed there. Even better if they allowed access to Steam itself but I'm sure they're going to keep their playerbase in their own ecosystem

Knife 7,112
Good luck with that, I sure as hell won't be buying one. It's crazy to me how quickly tech components have inflated in price due to AI companies buying up consumer grade products to repurpose.

Besides AI it’s also because the gaming industry demands so much high fidelity in terms of graphics now and stylised games don’t sell as much anymore so they need to basically run games almost like virtual reality. Look at GTA 6, it’s graphics and non-story gameplay is the selling point of it. Almost all the posts I’ve seen about GTA 6 are about the graphics or how much like “real life” it is.
