Whether it’ll be good or not is a question since 4:44 was great but Magna Carta was a$$

So I'm not mad at him feeling like he needed to overcompensate the past however many years. It's what many black people were always feeling about the halftime show those years. I agree that those genres were pretty underutilized in the halftime show, which is wild considering the boom of rap popularity in the 90s. While there were surely black artists present at the show during the 90s with Boys II Men, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, The Temptations, Queen Latifah, Michael Jackson, etc., R&B and hip hop weren't really included. And after the Janet Jackson controversy in 2004, it seems like the NFL went crazy extra "safe" in their headliner choices for a while. It was primarily bland, established, easy listening acts (and random Prince thrown in there too lolol). That said, the overcompensation is definitely felt now. A little variety in genre would be nice. I'd like to see either a rock band that can bring some good energy, or a memorable, campy pop show. Also Jay Z does nothing for me outside of "'03 Bonnie and Clyde", so I'm not particularly eager to see him

AndiGaga 7,357
Just bring up Gaga again. Justin Bieber is also long overdue. Miley could do it but i dont like to watch someone perform who does not enjoy... performing. Dua is also an option, she has enough hits. Also Jay Z does nothing for me outside of "'03 Bonnie and Clyde", so I'm not particularly eager to see him Other than Michael, Diana, and Prince, were any of those headliners? I think that's the point he was trying to make in including more black acts as primary performers, and it wasn't limited to black acts but pretty much any PoC headlining (see Bad Bunny and Shakira and J.Lo.). The variety is exactly the argument people of color were making during those years and now that he's done that, many people are effectively like "ok that's enough coloreds, you had your turn, lets go back to the default white acts please".
