Any nuance in the situation is long gone and any ignorance that prevents a grown a** adult from feeling educated enough to denounce it in plain language without qualifiers is willful at this point. *Anyone* willing to suppress sentiment against the atrocity deserves to be treated like gum on the bottom of our shoe by every person with a soul. "Cancel culture" is nowhere to be found in this situation. I don't actually disagree with any of what you say here, apart from thinking the response has been in any way muted. I think he's handled this completely the wrong way.
