I spent the summer buying the tv shows I comfort watch on dvd because I got so tired of shows being cancelled and ads creeping in. YouTube is basically cable tv level with ads now. We finally just cancelled all show subscriptions except for apple tv (it’s bundled with the things I do use -_-). I do hope these corporations start to remember the tale of icarus soon

This is why I haven't paid for any subscription services in many years and don't plan to any time soon. Paying to watch content that can be altered or removed at any time and content you don't actually own is ridiculous to me and all of this recent stuff just confirms that I made the right decision. I now only have YouTube Music but instead of paying I just get new free trials each month by making another Google account and if I want to watch a new movie or show (which only happens a few times a year at most because I don't like a lot of newer stuff) I pirate it or see it at a movie theatre. I also make sure to have a separate copy of content I like (like movies and Gaga stuff like performances) on my external hard drive that I use with my laptop as well and watch stuff that way too.

Eh I use a streaming website that makes you wait 10 seconds to start streaming a video and it's free and ok for basically ANYTHING I can think of, even region locked **** ^^ like sorry but having 10 streaming sites to watch all the shows is bullshit.

also, what’s the real point of ads. Does anyone actually pay attention to them anymore? If I’m forced to watch one I just scroll on my phone or stare at the countdown until I can skip it

Some people do pay attention and they do prove more effective than you’d think. You can subconsciously absorb information that influences your spending habits, look at movie trailers or product advertisement. Plus the people advertising usually pay the platform to advertise, so Disney makes more money to make up for the lack of subscriber numbers.

I guess that’s true, not everyone has adhd like me. But it makes the expirience so much less enjoyable especially when it’s halfway through the video

You also don’t get mid-roll ads on Disney content like Disney+ Original Series, Disney Channel Originals, Disney/Pixar IPs but there’s a chance you might get mid roll ads on their other properties like FX, Hulu, Marvel Studios etc.
