I think Gaga needs to focus on being a mother first before anything else. Just my opinion, she now has to think if her families safety before getting political. I agree I would like her to say something but its not her priority rn

Celebrities are not politicians. It’s not their obligation to weigh in on every issue. The whole “silence is complicity” is such a false position. It’s essentially trying to control someone’s behaviour by threatening to make an assumption about them if they so t behave the way you want them to.

Agreed. Celebrities speaking out is helpful when it brings awareness…. but we’re aware. The world is aware. I don’t think there’s a single Gaga fan who hasn’t been made aware of the crisis. And like, not every celebrity is a diplomat with a robust understanding of world conflicts. I don’t think that should be a required part of being a pop star.

To me this just kind of feels like a “which side is she on” witch hunt and purity test, which is a crazy thing Americans do about other Americans during crises that primarily affect other parts of the world. It’s almost like an American narcissism that the USA and its celebrities need to be the headline.

I challenge people to bring this energy to the elected difference makers in the government who can make more of an impact.

This is probably the most annoying arm chair activist movement to date. Stop relying on celebrities to “bring awareness” we’re already aware. Put pressure on politicians. Wtf does Gaga have the power to do.

Gurl did you know about her new company, I expected better from you

If this is about the Lightspeed thing it’s already been proven it’s an American company that has a division in Israel, something being in Israel doesn’t mean it’s funded by the IDF nor the government—which is where the problems are.

And until she says anything negative about Palestinians, is directly funded by the IDF or the Israeli government—I’m personally not going to judge her.

We should be pressuring government officials and world leaders the way some people on here pressure celebrities whose opinions are entirely inconsequential—Gaga’a included. Moral police the literal leaders not the cattle.

That would actually be wholly unnecessary for her to do at this point. Not everyone has to be political at all times. The Israel-Palestine conflict shouldn’t be some litmus test. Yes, what’s happened in Palestine is atrocious, but people shouldn’t be expected to comment on all things at all times. With that logic, you should expect all celebrities to discuss all geopolitical conflicts at all times such as the conflicts happening currently in Sudan, Congo, Myanmar, etc.

Frankly I'd love for celebrities to have political debates

broadcasted

wholly **** that's a pitch

The way most of them would have no careers anymore afterwards because even the more politically active celebrities are stupid af when it comes to politics. Hence why we should be putting pressure on actual politicians, because they actually make laws and uphold them.

No celebrity  or artist is “responsible” for taking any public stance whatsoever on any wars, politics, no matter the circumstances.  If they do, fine.  But DEMANDING they do so is unreasonable.   Artists are more impactful by simply spreading joy, love and positivity in what can often be an otherwise dark world. See Dolly Parton - should be everyone’s example of how to navigate these crazy times as an artist.

She could come out and address all posts all over social media claiming she’s a Zionist .

im seeing these posts every day.

I'm so sure, that even if she comes out with a message on whatever side she's in, people on social media especially x and tiktok will still find a way to twist those words and dislike her. These posts circulating around the web is just hate, and what I dislike about it is that they use these issues to drag the artists not their fave. (looking at stan twitter).

Any statement she makes will be used as token in twitter stan wars.

It will never be good enough.

Honestly, this entire situation is deeply disheartening. Gaga played such a significant role in shaping my identity as a young queer person; so much of my creativity came from the world she created, and I found a lifelong community through this fandom. That’s what makes this so difficult to process. When someone is so deeply intertwined with your identity, it can be painful to confront the possibility that they may be very different from the person you believed them to be.

But I think we ultimately have to accept that her priorities may be different from our own. I don’t believe she is simply indifferent to the immense suffering in Gaza, but I do believe she is unwilling to put her finances or career at risk over it. For me, that means acknowledging the profound impact she has had on my life, continuing to love and engage with her art, while also allowing myself to create some distance from her as a person.

In immediate retrospect … as far as protection, should Gaga make a polarizing statement, one way or the other … one would logically deduce that with her partner‘s literal network within surveillance, defense, government, and cybersecurity … Gaga should be able to speak her mind on social, political, and cultural issues of human rights—safely and freely—knowing that her partner (and her team) have her and her daughter‘s safety as top priority … even if Gaga disagrees with Polansky‘s politics, one would logically deduce that she would be able to voice that with the same protection as if she spoke in support of his views—again, whatever those views may be …

TL;DR: Gaga‘s direct proximity to her partner‘s global security network should logically grant protection from any legitimate threats to her and her daughter‘s safety, should she speak on behalf of a polarizing human rights issue …

But/and, again, I’m new and novice, so still just gleaning and learning as we go along

ETA: If Gaga breaking her silence is a threat to her partner‘s business network, that should not be a threat to Gaga‘s nor her daughter‘s safety, given said professional protection network‘s relationship with her personal partner, and her partner‘s prioritization of her and their daughter‘s safety

(For the record: DanceFight reacted before said ETA, so his response is not necessarily in support of the additional commentary—just a parenthetical aside for the sake of due diligence … though/but/and, DanceFight, as always, I genuinely appreciate your pawsitive response on the primary commentary)

No, she shouldn’t. You know Gaga, and basically every other big artist like Beyonce or Taylor, would’ve done exactly the same as Ed Sheeran, right?

Gaga likely has a very sensible opinion on the conflict. She probably supports a two-state solution. But for most pro-Palestinian people anything other than “Israel should be wiped off the map” is not enough. These are not reasonable people.

Gaga now has a half-Jewish child, and her safety is her priority now. Anti-Semitism is now normalized and even seen as cool by younger generations, it’s at an all time high since the Holocaust.

These people can get very violent. Just a few months ago, a terrorist in Michigan tried to murder over 100 children at a Jewish daycare.

Are you out of your mind? how dumb do you really have to be to say this? Please look up what antisemitism is before talking, because you are making a fool of yourself

There's an insane smear campaign happening there to paint Gaga as a zio, coming from some deranged Katy Perry fans disguised as news portals. I don't even interact with stan twitter at all im too old for that, but this week after the baby news i obviously talked about Gaga and suddenly my algorithm was flooded with the most infuriating ragebait.

With the Ed Sheeran controversy happening right now its even worse and I feel like she could easily address this with an instagram like or tiktok comment just to shut people up for a second. It doesnt have to be a statement
