lastpopicon 37,510
People are usually good, but sadly humans are easily manipulated by propaganda and fear, nobody is immune, me and you included. Maybe the printing press (or the Acta Diurna, romans were really ahead ) was meant to stay on the drawing board. And interestingly enough, Nazi Germany was the first country in the world to use mass propaganda and the result was taking almost all of europe, imo it was never the tanks, the tactics or brilliance, it was a war fueled by propaganda. For better or worse, the nazis taught a lot to governments all over the world, 80 years later, propaganda from all sides has gotten so damn good that we spend all our time just pointing fingers instead of uniting. And that's by design. and dont mind me, just rambling really The melody that you choose can rescue you

Bambino 24,390
She should HAVE done that a long time ago. I made this post in another thread. Especially Gaga, out of ALL those empty celebrities, should've said something from the very beginning (back to when Palestine wasn't a trendy topic to talk about). Even a 'both sides' post would've had a little meaning had she made in 2023 when the genocide began. She built a very strong public image around equality, freedom and human rights, those values have a special meaning when an ACTUAL group of people such as the Palestinians are suffering from inequality, oppression, occupation and much more. But she chose to ignore it, and there's no excuse to that. And no, a post isn't going to give Palestinians ANYTHING, neither freedom nor a state, but it was her MORAL value to say something and she chose not to. I'm not saying she's a Zionist (yet?) but her silence raises a lot of questions. So imo it's either she's ignorant and/or surrounded by evil people who misinform her (though that's not an excuse anymore as access is available to literally everyone), or simply she's a Zionist. You guys don't get how IMPORTANT it is for celebrities talk about Palestine nowadays. Back in the day, nobody was allowed to even mention the word Palestine. Some even mistook the name for Pakistan. A few years ago, I made this thread: And it was locked minutes after it was created, and that tells you how things have changed. If everyone is the worst, then no one is the worst. Because I'm sure it'd be a huge story and fans of these people would boast about it. Let's not make it seem like every celeb in Hollywood made a statement and shown that they support for Palestine and Gaga an outlier. What’s the point of forcing her to say something? The government isn’t withholding Palestinian aid unless Lady Gaga opens her mouth. It really comes across as “I just want to make sure she thinks like me” so that folks feel validated in their choice of pop star. Not everyone is going to make a comment on every single thing If her lack of speaking about this one awful situation going in the world really bothers you that much, then idk don’t listen to her music, toss out your Haus Labs concealer, I don’t know what else to tell you

Not everyone is going to make a comment on every single thing If her lack of speaking about this one awful situation going in the world really bothers you that much, then idk don’t listen to her music, toss out your Haus Labs concealer, I don’t know what else to tell you Public figures have enormous platforms, and when they choose to speak about some social or humanitarian issues but remain silent about others, it’s reasonable to question that silence. I’m not saying she’s obligated to agree with me or that she has to comment on every issue in the world. I’m saying that her decision not to say anything about Palestinians is something I’m allowed to find disappointing. And it’s not about needing a pop star to “think like me.” It’s about what people choose to support with their attention, money, and admiration. You’re free to think her silence is irrelevant; I’m free to think it says something. Gaga has spent a huge part of her public image standing up for human rights, equality, marginalized people, and humanitarian causes. So when there’s a humanitarian catastrophe affecting Palestinians and she chooses to say nothing, it’s completely fair to question that silence. If she wants to stay out of politics, that’s her choice, but then people are also allowed to question how consistent that is with the values she has publicly championed for years. It’s about deciding what kind of people and values I want to support. You can listen to her music and not care about her silence. I can care about it and call it out. Those are both choices. F*CK no and anyone who's been a fan for more than 5 minutes knows she saw the attacks and felt awful but she's also super f*cking famous and speaking without thinking can be dangerous for her, her family and circle Edited 4 hours ago by nATAH mother, what must i do? 1
MOT 3,653
Does she NEED to show support for Palestine ? No. SHOULD she show support for Palestine ? No. She's a professional entertainer, not an elected representative of any type. So NEED and SHOULD ? No. She's under no obligation. None.
Petie Estie 5,741
she is ruining her career at this point, and it's too late I'm afraid. People are getting crazy with the accusations. A part of her maturing & growing up is not shooting her mouth off as quickly as she used to, and with so many people who rely on her from her businesses, to her family, to the BTW Foundation, she’s just not going to jump into every divisive public situation. That has to be a lot of pressure. Hell, there was a threat at her Rio show. She knows firsthand how crazy people can be. And like you said, I’ve never once doubted what she’s probably feeling, I feel like as a fan I’ve gotten to know her heart well after 16 years.
