This reeks of throwing vault tracks together to push out an album.

BS feels more like a concept than a finished song

Different Religion is good sonically but the lyrics read like a first draft (which is a problem that plagues this entire album tbh)

Let's Get Married and Orbit would both be better off in the hands of someone else (I honestly think Yola would have done these tracks a lot of justice)

Aftermath is a mess

REDLIGHTS is alright but she needed to give the vocals a touch more energy and it sounds like a James Blunt song

Neon Signs is a smoke break

Innocent Ways is giving 2009-era unsigned YouTube singer who just learned how to use a DAW

Snow is alright I guess

 

Only songs I can see myself returning to are Different Religion and REDLIGHTS

 

3/10. I don't get it. An attempt at experimentation that resulted in a miss, I fear. My love/hate relationship with Miley's music continues

Oh my, what a boring album  Sure, Bass Persuades is still great, and I do like Different Religion and Innocent Ways, but they still didn't make it onto my playlist. So out of 8 songs, only the lead single stands out. That's bad

Confusing album. It’s all over the place. The flow of the album makes no sense. How does it go from Bass Persuades and Different Religion and then into two slow songs and only picks up with Innocent Ways. 

I don’t even know what this era is about and what the point is. I will defend Something Beautiful any day, but this is such a throw away album. It tells me nothing about her growth or where she’s headed as an artist. 

I wish Miley would fully lean into the 70s/80s rock sound of Plastic Heart, Midnight Sky, the interludes of Something Beautiful, Secrets, Lockdown. That’s where she was at her best.

A mess. Worst thing she's released since her 'mature career' kicked off with Bangerz. It desperately wants to be Blackout, but it's just a mess that sounds cheap and meaningless.

Different Religion could've slapped, but something is missing and Model/Actriz isn't used enough. Could've been really dark and dirty and now it's just trying to be dark and dirty.

The lead could've been a great single with slightly different production, totally different lyrics and a less cringey video.
Yes babe, we've seen the references to The Night Porter and Thriller a million times, but have you actually watched The Night Porter, Miley? Do you know why Madonna used that reference in her work? Do you understand what that movie is about besides using it for aesthetics?

The music video for Let's Get Married is very cute though.

That's the thing with this album: it is desperately trying to be something and therefor it's not really anything at all. Is Miley back at her identity crisis?

Every album gets abandoned after she releases it and she hypes the next album by talking about what she didn't like about the prior one.

It's not BAD bad, it's just boring and doesn't go anywhere? Different Religion is the most interesting one along with the title track and both suffer from a weak chorus that makes them fall flat. Innocent Ways also sounds good but still... nothing exciting. 

She should have explored that sound more and developed an album around it because it works so much better than whatever mellow songs she filled the rest of the album with  I was really hyped for this, especially that I loved Something Beautiful, but oh well.
