Openers drop out of Ed Sheeran’s tour

Openers dropping out is great to see, but logistically is an easy blow to take (just very very bad PR).

But losing his entire backing band mid tour? That's catastrophically bad.
Yeah session musicians are replaceable, but the logistics and the contracts etc doesn't happen overnight. And it will come at cost, and the musicians will be able to push for a premium rate.

I don’t think people realize how big of a deal this is. We have literal billionaires and owners of stadiums silencing artists because they don’t agree with their politics, which is going to set a very messy precedent going forward.

I understand not having someone who advocates for hate but Macklemore’s speech was clearly not hostile to Jews, he made that very clear, and he was speaking up about a genocide.

We aren't angry enough about how this incident is showing the rapid decline of free speech at the control of the rich.

The next step would be for the crowd to chant against him during his own show or make those big signs with agressive messaging. If that happened he would literally cry on stage.

Unfortunately if you go to his Twitter page, all his fans' comments are against Macklemore, so I don't see that happening at all.

1. Twitter is very much controlled by people with money, just like the touring venues

2. it only takes a few people to make a scene

Not that I am expecting this to happen but twitter is not a reflection of real life

This is honestly great! I love that musicians are taking this seriously. I get that fans will be disappointed, especially those who might have booked a flight and paid for hotels, but the truth is that going to a show is not a full necessity. You’ll get your refunds, and besides the initial anger life will go on. It’s best to have musicians act now and avoid these billionaires set a precedent that if they aren’t complicit then they won’t be able to Perform again in these spaces.

*insert the maniacal Aura laugh* what a fantastic FVCK YOU to Ed and all the bilionares who lobbied against mr. Mac! :ladyhaha: hopefully he'll get people demanding their money back for the upcoming shows and the whole tour falls apart. Also how will he do a show without the backing band? Imagine if the crew also does this?! Idk if I ever saw something like this happen and its kinda huge that everyone would turn their backs on all of this out of integrity. It's nice to see there's still good people around, truly amazing!

Mad respect to all these artist for standing up for their values over the money/exposure this tour would've given them. :applause:

Wonderful humans! They are Irish heart and soul.
Ed is NOT Irish at heart. :messga:

Saying he's neutral is a lie He stood up for Ukraine lol and met with the IDF. So, he never took a Switzerland approach!

I know the stadium owners were probably gonna do/say something about Macklemore’s statement, but it would NOT have been that intense without P!nk’s initial commentary. She really put a huge spotlight on the situation (and herself), that’s now leading to an opening act-less tour for a fellow artist, and more artists and public personalities speaking up against Israel’s genocidal ambitions, Zionism, and censorship.
