if I was the creator of the original surf mayhem logo and then I saw Gaga’s mayhem logo, I’d certainly want them to change it, as it is very similar- again, even if it’s unintentional.

 

imo Gaga’s team should just settled it out of court with the surf company.  I feel bad for them. They did nothing wrong .  Gaga did nothing wrong either! Of course - but now it sucks for this company to first deal with an unintentional copied logo, and now have to pay for Gaga’s legal bills… it just seems unnecessary imo

sis, she had to pay lawyers, she had to be stressed for a while, she already have the copycat stigma above her head, imagine she lost the lawsuit, it would have been  a devastating PR for a person that already lives with trauma.

but the logo wasn't copied at all and they're not similar at all, definitely no where near enough to file any sort of lawsuit

this will prevent other people for thinking they can also launch a lawsuit, just because LG8 happens to share the same name as their incredibly local unrelated business

Ok and does the person who designed the surf mayhem logo not matter ??????? I’m gonna guess that person is not as rich as Gaga, feels gutted that a major celebrity is using a logo that not only looks like theirs but uses the exact same name as well.  Again I believe it was a very unfortunate coincidence.. but let’s not act like this would ruin lady Gaga, and look she did win! So that’s great. Now why do they gotta go aaafter this poor surfboard company for?? Gimme a break

no he does not matter, the brand sued, they took the risk, and they lost so now they have to pays.

Just because she's rich, doesn't mean that she needs to giveaway her money for a lawsuit that one day was filed against her for the dumbest reason.. she's the victim here, not the surfing brand.. it's $250k that were forced on her and she wants it back and she has every right for it.

It's not even a coincidence, it's not even the same font, not even the same style, Gaga's Mayhem font is more leaning to the rock, emo and grunge artstyle..

and nobody in their sane mind would confused between a surfing, a niche activity, brand to an album of lady gaga, the biggest pop star in the world..

If they were smart, they could have approach with a pitch for a collaboration.. but they tried to get easy money and lost.

It’s not about Gaga needing the money, it’s about the principle of it all. The sifting company wanted to F her over for an easy buck, the judge saw right through their desperation, and now Gaga has every right to get back the money that she lost because of their greedy asses. Her being rich doesn’t negate the fact that they deserve to be punished for their actions

Clearly we disagree! I don’t think she’s “the victim” here, nor is she the villain, obviously. I do think the surf graphic designer matters, that’s extremely bizarre for you to claim they don’t just because they wanted to protect their logo, which they have every right to… 

Oh and I think the logos do look alike!
