The 80s are definitely the decade with the majority of the best songs in history

The 2000s are next IMO

The 90s were also good, but not as memorable as the first ones I mentioned.

If I could pick a fourth, it would be the 2010s; I even feel they're tied with the 90s.

The turn from the 2000s to 2010s (2007-2012). That was the peak and prime.

Overall, the 80s probably made the biggest stylistic strides (imo) & those ripple effects are still echoed/aspired to today.

But I think most people's opinions will boil down to the music that was popular during their own formative years.

For me, there will always be something special about that specific mid-00's pop/hip-hop sound.

Not necessarily "the best" decade for music, but probably the one I enjoy the most

Im older than most here but didn’t get to live the 70’s.  Musically, I wish I had though.  The level of talent was IMPECCABLE.  it did not matter one bit what you looked like, so if your talent and artistry weren’t at a certain very high level, you simply were not very successful.  My vote as #1. 
 

While image became much more important in the 80’s, there’s no denying the iconic sound of the decade (still INCREDIBLY talented artists) that has influenced music since like no other.  My #2.
