From pictures i think the baby is 2-3 months old so not a newborn anymore.  Being 40 she had all the right to hire a surrogate coz its their baby and their genes surely. Somehow i think its a boy but maybe im wrong 🙂

First of all, we don’t know whether the baby was adopted. My comment was specifically in response to the quoted comment.

Pregnancy isn’t a product or a service. It involves someone’s body for nine months, with real medical risks and potentially lifelong consequences. And when the people providing that service are usually women in a more vulnerable economic position, while the people paying for it have considerably more money, calling it simply a “free choice” feels a bit too convenient.

What I find completely unacceptable is the commercial system that underpins these pregnancies, and the way it profits from the desperation of people who are unable to have children and from the vulnerability of women who may have very limited economic choices. That is the part I find deeply troubling. 

That said, I understand why many families turn to surrogacy, and I genuinely wish that baby all the best. I’m sure they will have a wonderful life, just as I wish Gaga and Michael all the best too.

We can be critical without losing our sense of perspective.

but do we need to, or is it our place to be critical about peoples such personal choices tho? including the person who chose to get paid for it (probably a very high amount)

Individual freedom doesn’t mean that every consequence of that choice is purely individual. We should also ask what kind of society we create when reproductive capacity becomes something that can be bought, particularly when wealth and economic vulnerability determine who is buying and who is providing it. Respecting individuals and questioning the structure are not mutually exclusive.

should we, tho? you dont think you could be overstepping a situation that has nothing to do with you and your life but actually other peoples individually, privacy and freedom? it's not being treated as something that can be "bought" its tech advancement that gives the possibility to people who cant get pregnant and people who is willing to provide them with the chance and in return be provided with something the couple can give in return.

there's nothing "yikes" about it imo, I think it's way more "yikey" to be pointing fingers at people like that and their personal choices when nothing about concerns you and your life
