I think her reasoning is entirely valid. The industry should take Gaga as an example for eternity about what happens when you push and overwork your artists. She nearly never danced or performed live in the same capacity ever again after the BTWB.

Like I remember there was a time after the JWT got cancelled, we thought she’d do what Miley did and just never tour again.

Plus some popstars aren't of the same calibre or stamina of people like Gaga or Beyoncé and can’t do massive shows. Like even at the brat tour she wasn’t a dancer and used auto tune the whole time (a choice I don’t mind she did tbh it matched the vibe), but for all the music and live performances of MFF point towards her using no auto tune live and a live band too.

Tours also don’t work the way they used to, touring isn’t as needed as it used to be (originally happening to make up for money losses from album cycles back in the 80s). And they’re going about touring the wrong way too, to make up for the lack of dates they have increased pricing to make up for lost money.

Also tours have become more for the public than fans, when it used to be equally for fans and the public. So it makes no sense for me that they’ve made ticketing so high when you could easily sell more with lower pricing to fans and putting them in bigger venues to make up for the losses.

I'm willing to bet artists are noticing their crowds are becoming way more casual listeners and scalped seats than actual fans, which probably sucks for someone indie like charli

what's the point of pushing yourself through all that strain if bulks of your actual fans have been locked out by dynamic pricing and scalping

mother, what must i do?

At least luckily in the UK now you can no longer resell concert tickets for more than original face value + fees. So scalpers in the UK are essentially dead now, because they cannot make profit from ticket resales.

I love her transparency but she doesn't owe anyone an apology or an explanation.

Plus, small niche tours are better anyways.
