VESPER

Vesper = evening, the evening star, vespers.

Tracklist

Vesper
A monumental intro. Bells, organ, breath, Latin choirs gradually mutating into industrial synths.

Saint of the Dancefloor
The first huge proper single. Dark disco, high BPM, instantly Gaga chorus.
“Make me holy / make me sweat.”

Velvet Knife
Electronic glam rock. Very sexual, vicious, elegant. The spiritual descendant of Government Hooker.

Mother Tongue
A huge dramatic track about voice, identity, the body, what we inherit, and what we choose. Completely excessive vocal bridge.

Salomé
The song you would become obsessed with. Macabre dance energy, heavy percussion, stylized Middle Eastern-inflected strings, almost spoken verses.
Not “Halloween” — biblical haute couture, just like Judas.

Beautiful When I Bleed
A power ballad beginning with piano and voice before becoming enormous, almost like The Edge of Glory passed through a gothic filter.

No Madonna
A song about refusing to be a saint, a victim, or an idealized figure. Cold synth-pop with Pet Shop Boys / Depeche Mode energy.

Ecstasy
The obvious hit. Elevated 90s Eurodance, but dark. The kind of song that could become her next Bad Romance without trying to copy Bad Romance. BR and Abra Little sister!!

The Witch Is Dead
And obviously: she isn’t.
A sarcastic song about the repeated attempts to declare her career, femininity, or monstrosity over. Very theatrical. Guitars + acid house.

Body Politic
Sexual and political without becoming didactic. Martial beat, low male voice in the background, brutal techno finale.

After the Opera
The strange fan-favorite track (maybe Bloody Mary’s Little sister, MAYBE!). Six minutes. Piano, operatic vocals, backstage noises, analog synths. She sings about what remains of a person once the character leaves the stage.

Mercy
A dark synth ballad. Extremely stripped back.
She asks for forgiveness, but you never really know what for.

Heaven Is a Nightclub
The queer anthem of the album, but treated with melancholy rather than as a slogan. An empty club at 5 a.m. literally becomes a cathedral.

Morning Star
A seven-minute finale. It begins almost like a funeral song and ends in total euphoria: gospel, saxophone, synths, live drums. The final line would simply be:
“I survived the night.” This is Gaga’s very own Like A Prayer but without trying to copy it. It is really in the vein of MAYEM Requiem.

Visually, I imagine black / ivory / very occasional blood red, almost white hair, bleached brows, ecclesiastical Mugler/Alexander McQueen silhouettes, gigantic coats, antique jewelry, latex beneath widow’s lace.

No cliché demon imagery: more like decadent Vatican + Berlin 1987 + silent-film star + nightclub.

The three singles would be:

Saint of the Dancefloor -> Salomé -> Ecstasy

Omfg I’m so hyped I want it now

Oh wow, fascinating scope; a bit in the cadence of Catholithrowback, reminds me of the Liturgy of the Hours

ETA:

Vespers (Evening Prayer)

Vespers (the name means "evening") is designed to be recited in the evening, when the day's work is done. It is the Hour that is most often celebrated in church with a lay congregation, both in the Catholic and the Anglican churches: the Anglicans call it Evensong.

With Sundays and solemnities, Christians retain the Jewish custom of starting the day on the evening before. So, for example, Saturday never has Vespers of its own: they are always "First Vespers" of the Sunday following. [Holy Saturday is a unique exception].

The structure of the Hour

Vespers begins with two psalms, followed by a canticle from the New Testament. Many of these canticles were used liturgically by the earliest Christians, some of them even before the Gospels were written down.

A short reading follows. When Vespers is celebrated with a congregation, this reading can be replaced by a longer one.

Then comes the Magnificat, the canticle of praise by Mary at the Annunciation, when she consented to become the mother of God.

Then come prayers and intercessions for the church and for the world.

The Our Father and a concluding prayer bring Vespers to an end.

I don't know about the title or tracklist but I definitely do know about my dream producers: Trent Reznor (NIN), She Wants Revenge, Gesaffelstein again. OH and PLEASE stop with the one-word-punch type of titles

If Parker-Thiel Polanksy can pull together the Mayhem Era to the delight of a few monsters (Lil‘ and otherwise), who‘s to say there aren‘t a few diamonds in the rough somewhere in the thread, just waiting for their creative resources to burgeon into fruition … let the kids roam free in the imagination pastures of motley musing mood-boarding!
