2026 Midterm Discussions (Polls, updates, and more)

As an American living through one of the worst financial and social crises of our generation I'm consuming a TON of midterm related content from half a dozen podcasters, legacy media, and independent research. Every now and then I find something I'd like to talk about but isn't necessarily thread worthy so I'm making a hub thread :anveeroy:

Not all 2026 midterm threads will be merged here, results can be their own thread in November, but polls, updates, stories, coverage, etc can go here so we can all collectively froth at the mouth and wonder how political polarization is so rampant that there is a state where the race is a tossup between a squeaky clean young Christian man and a decrepit old sociopath who was literally impeached and removed from office by his own party for being too corrupt.

I'll probably spruce up the OP to make it pretty later if I feel like it :neyde:

But for now, I wanted to note some interesting polling that has Talarico up by 6 in Texas with significant crossover votes from Republicans (backed up by the fact that Republicans are polling 5pts+ ahead in every down ballot race).

Our boy is winning Whites below 50, blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, women, basically everyone but old white folks.

I just finished listening to this (I have 9 hours a day to fill with podcasts help). The dude on the right says he got about ten minutes to interview Talarico after an event in a deeply conservative town and Talarico doubled down that what we're seeing atm isn't simply a rebuttal of Trump, it's a generational shift because the youngest among us were the first to grow up in a world where we actually didn't expect anything to get better. We're the generations that are tired of the "left vs right" when we've realized for a while the REAL fight is "top 1% vs bottom 99%".

Bernie Sanders stuff but said by a cute church boy so Texas eats it up :anveeroy:

Also poll related:

El-Sayed is leading in Michigan again. Seems the brutal primary blood is washing off a bit (and Haley Stevens is going to Israel on a honeymoon or some sh*t, you cannot make this stuff up lmao)

Bro in that video I posted is saying to keep an eye on KANSAS of all places. Not that we'll win it but that deep red states are becoming competitive.

Democrats are leading in ARKANSAS polls :air: we're almost certainly not winning there but it just shows how strong the wind at our backs really is.

Democrats are now leading the generic polls by double digits. The last time that happened was in 2006 during the Bush administration and it was a bloodbath for Republicans.

K, that's all I wanted to ramble about for now :flower:

OH and the fights of the moment are corruption, flock cameras, data centers, affordability, Israel, and the dumb war in Iran so if Democrats could stop allowing themselves to be smeared by having an approximate stance near Hasan Piker, stop punching left, and stop our dumbass minority leader from saying "wellllll we don't neeeeeed Michigan for senate majority"

THAT'D BE F*CKING GREAT :vegas:

One to keep an eye on is the Georgia race now.

Ossoff decided the best way to maintain an 8% poll lead when there's a 6% undecided factor (which are often shy conservatives) is to piss off the left. If he loses Georgia, he's sunk his 2028 plans.

Yah, that one caused a supersonic face palm. Imagine taking the bait when your race was pretty much settled.

Texas Senate rant:

Jasmine Crockett is refusing to campaign for Talarico.

I’m so glad I voted for him. She is a huge disappointment.

She keeps saying she will campaign for down ballot races and even refuses to say Talarico’s name. She’s the biggest loser in politics at the moment.

Does someone want to post current polls in all the swing states? :lolly:

Yeah, it's pretty shocking. Even Israeli Haley jumped behind El-Sayed.

Thanks for this diva I’ve been trying to keep up with US politics. Mostly because I just want y’all to have a hard left government so it can force the UK to become more left :anveeroy:

Side note: I got to see Trump’s motorcade as it passed on the highway right next to me.

He was in Texas for an RNC fundraising event (trying to help Ken Paxton) and to give medals to the Artemis II crew for the moon mission

Well that's not happening :ladyhaha:

Hakeem Jeffries has already announced that hard-line Israel loyalists and conservative Democrats will be heading the foreign affairs committee and other important slots.

After Democrats in general win this cycle we have a severe need to cut the rot out of the party itself and that starts by challenging Jefferies and Schumer as leaders. AOC can take Schumer's seat no problem in 2028, not sure what the solution is for Jeffries other than continuing to run up the score on leftist/DSA house members to eventually oust him as speaker.

AOC does appear to be pivoting towards running against Schumer rather than the WH in 2028.

I hope so. I have a feeling she's just pulling a Kamala and keeping the speculation alive so she has the media attention 'cause as soon as either says "I'm not running" they'll be ignored entirely.

This is about 2028 but I don't think Kamala's actually gonna run. Supposedly she just bought a house in Malibu which isn't the kind of thing someone does a year before they campaign to live in the White House for 4 or 8 years :chica:
