TaylorSwift 163,008
Selena Gomez is hitting back hard against claims that she was involved in fraud at the mental health startup Wondermind, saying she had nothing to do with the situation and calling the lawsuit "egregiously improper and legally deficient." Gomez's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the pop star from a lawsuit brought by five Wondermind investors. These investors allege they were duped into investing $1.2 million in the struggling company led by Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey.  The lawsuit centers on claims that Teefey and her former co-CEO, Daniella Pierson, misrepresented the company’s structure and finances to investors and allegedly falsely said Gomez would be heavily involved as Wondermind’s head of marketing, when in reality the star worked to “actively distance” herself from the company. According to Gomez's lawyers, this claim demonstrates in and of itself that she should not be involved in the lawsuit. The attorneys say that since Gomez had no role in Wondermind's fundraising or management, she "could not possibly have engaged in any 'fraud.'" The lawsuit tries to plead around this issue by suggesting that Gomez had access to Wondermind's financial numbers, and thus she must have known that company investors were being lied to. But Gomez's lawyers say this is faulty too. "The mere fact that Ms. Gomez — who is literally one of the world's busiest women — might have had the ability to request information by virtue of being a co-founder/consultant is not enough," reads the motion to dismiss.  Vote for me: https://www.grammy.com/vote/taylor-swift

If true i dont see the issue. Since when are u obligated to take on ur parents lawsuits?  Im better off financially in many ways than my parents. I love them, but if they were to get into a financial dispute that has nothing to do with me im not accepting getting sued or used as collateral just because they are my parents  This is assuming its true Selena had nothing to do with it and isnt being misrepresented. I dont know enough about the case. If she actually was involved in the fraud in some way even indirectly that changes things

If she actually was involved in the fraud in some way even indirectly that changes things She is being sued because investors allege that they were misled into believing she would be actively involved in Wondermind and use her social-media to promote the company  She’s listed as co-funder and the chief impact officer of this company.  Before the plaintiffs invested their money, Selena appeared on the cover of Entrepreneur magazine, gave an interview on 'Good Morning America', where she promoted the company to lure investors.   Forbes investigates Wondermind last year and found out that Selena had met the staff only once in three years and that they couldn't get her to participate in promotional activities.
