Thanks for your honest answers. My reading back then didn't have many moderate voices included. Reading the (most recognized as "true") Hadith made me come to somewhat of the same conclusion as you in my humble opinion, "All the issues in Islam come from the hadith" as you said. Some of them were a punch in the gut like "There are much more women than men in Hell" and when Aisha asks why, it's because of "moral and spiritual weak-mindedness because women don't pray when unclean so their bond with Allah is much looser." Don’t quote me on it but that was the essence, I think. It's to be used more like a history book, as you say, not doctrine but a timeline if you believe, a supplement but not usable law or maybe even fully authentic. What a healthy way of looking at it!

Taking them all seriously NOW would be like thinking the New Testament spouts THE truth line per line if you're Christian or believing every bit of Hindu religious text from every one of its 28 states and 8 Union territories - all are contradictory in some form at least.

Thank you for the lovely background you've given me (I've got some digging to do now to find out more around the history!) and the beautiful verse about spouses. Thanks for indulging me!

Yeah if these hadiths were in the Quran I would surely leave my religion. Why are all these horrible hadiths not represented in the Quran if its from the same God? The whole point of the Quran being a song to memorize is to preserve it in our hearts even if they try to corrupt or burn it, unlike the previous books. Thats why Islam is against oral tradition like the Hadith.

Just an extra interesting tip, when you search for hadiths, checking if its labelled authentic is not enough. That just tells you if the narrator is trustworthy, but not if its independently atteseted. You also have to check if its Mutawator or Ahaad. Ahaad means less than 3 independent chain of sources, and Mutawatir means more than 3. When I did this I barely found any problematic hadiths!

Private message me if you want, I dont want to change the subject of this thread lol Thank you :)

Idk about "countless". ISIS coordinated attacks peaked in 2015 and even then, at their bloodiest, the deaths accounted for less than 5% of Europe's total homicides.

After that, attacks were "lone actor" attacks but Europe has the same problem the US does tbh.

If a white man shoots up a Walmart, well he's crazy. A white man beats his wife, well he's a bad guy. A white man ODs on some illegal drug, well he had problems.

If a brown person does any of that? It's 'cause all people like that person are bad. Ignoring the fact that in both places, Europe and the US, immigrants are far less likely to commit crimes or acts of violence, regardless of where they come from, than native born citizens.

Every time there's some lunatic Jihadist the Europeans say "well that's what happens when you let THOSE people in from THIRD WORLD NATIONS" as if that's not ignorant and racist as f*ck and ignores the decades of history that caused those "third world nations" to exist in the state they do today.

But I would argue that Europe doesn't have the same problem as the US however. And you can't really blame Europeans for becoming xenophobic after what happened in the 2010s. Also this type of xenophobia happens everywhere, even in the middle east.

countless terror attacks

And yet, white nationalists comprise the overwhelming majority of terror attacks in Europe. Huh.

I think it's funny that this thread is full of gays with white guilt debating racism while Islamics actively and proudly hate us and want to convert our families to their faith by all means necessary.

I know that it’s never occurred to you (as I’m sure much hasn’t), but some people just believe no group deserves to be the target of state sanctioned discrimination (especially not a minority or marginalized group) even if there are members of that group that hate or disagree with us. You’re literally just repackaging Israel’s “Chickens for KFC” argument that they use to justify the genocide in Gaza lmao.

In what way? You can’t just disagree without qualifying it, especially when @PartySickleveled a very specific (and statistically verifiable) comparison.

Also will never not be funny to me that @Laxyonce claimed that I was a right winger for thinking Zara Larson’s joke about abortion wasn’t good political optics and here the good sis is, justifying institutional discrimination against Muslims lmao. Real loser type sh*t.

"You can't blame them for being racist"

Respectfully, I won't argue with a wild take like that :icant:

There actually is a correction that could be made on my argument :chica:

Because the initial wave of migrants consisted mostly of 16-30 year old men with no families who were left far too long in transitional holding with no legal representation or resources (work, food, real shelter, etc) there was a moment where crime among immigrants was higher.

But you put any population of people, native or otherwise, in that same position and you'll see the same results.

It's really splitting hairs. People don't move to another country to cause trouble.

Both ridiculous re: religious liberty and also from a public health standpoint. A sick person can’t wear a mask in public? Like what are we doing here

I still wear a mask in flu season so I completely concur. I don’t think this is remotely a solution to any problem
