I agree its a way to control women, but at the end of the day, we treat women as adults that are capable of making their own choices aslong as there is nothing stopping them from making their own choices. Alot of things we do in society comes from control and social pressure, we cant ban everything.

I found that the first misconception of the western people is that "all muslims are the same", but there are so many different cultures and traditions within Islam and still each individual decides to practice it as they like.

Like my 2nd floor neighbors are muslims and the woman wears hijab, but the moment she enters the building, she takes it off and doesn't care if we see her hair.

I would say shes culturally wearing the hijab, not because shes forced to, but its part of her identity and social circle. I know u live in the Middle East, so im sure u know almost all muslim families have women without hijab.

I lived there, now I live in Switzerland 

And it's true, and tbh the hijab is a symbolic veil, a fashion status as well, and the religious meaning of it is fading, I see a lot of young women from muslim families who are not wearing it at all, like you can see a muslim woman without even a hijab, while her mother is next to her with a niqab and it's just normal.. despite what the racists wants us to believe, Muslims in the Europe and the US integrated together with their religion and it's not by what the wear or not..
