You do know that some women choose to wear the covering because it’s their own choice, right? A woman being able to choose what she wants to wear is not oppressive. 

What’s oppressive is telling what a Muslim woman can and can’t wear. Stop dictating other people even if you disagree or don’t understand why they do something.

I mean, when I travel to other countries, particularly the Middle East I abide by the rules of Islam. I don’t see what the uproar is. Given 99.6% of the population of Portugal is not Muslim, I’m afraid a burqa could been seen as intimidating.

Not really sure where I stand on it, but we will never beat oppression.

I live in Saudi Arabia where alot of people wear the Burqa, but no woman would refuse identification of the face when needed. Most women who wear Burqa have no issue showing men their face, its not a big deal as its not even a strict religious thing. Infact, if she goes to Mecca, shes religiously required to remove the Burqa and show her face.

Alot of things hinders social interactions, but we value the freedom of the individual above some minor hinders of social interaction which can be solved when needed. If u want to change something, try to socially influence it instead of taking away peoples freedom.

Nobody here is saying they should break the law, we are saying the law should change or not be put in practice. Im sure u want to change the law of these muslim countries u visit right?
