I would bet anything their stance is motivated a discomfort with Muslims whether they’re consciously aware that’s what it is or not.

In my opinion, face covering clothing hinders social interaction in a society where facial recognition and expression play an important role in communication, and hinders social cohesion in general. Clear communication and identification are essential in public settings like schools and hospitals.

I'll never understand how anyone can have contempt for entire groups of people but man, growing up in Florida and hearing everything from "towel heads" to "sand n-words" gave me such a specific ick about people coming for Arabs/Muslims.

I despise religion with all my heart but I consider all religions equally ridiculous.

Islamic people (of which there are A BILLION) are no better or worse than any other group of people but they are pretty uniquely brutalized in Europe and the US because of how stupid Europeans and Americans tend to be.

People have a right to not want to communicate with you in the way you want them to or even not at all if they prefer.

You can't dictate others' lives and choices, especially for such a dumb reason as your own comfort and ideas about what is or isn't necessary in hypothetical situations, it's that simple.

If you can't effectively communicate with someone without seeing their entire face that's a skill issue on your part, not a deficiency on theirs  

Any other justifications?

I just recently moved to NYC and I’ve been very heartened to find that most of the city stood in support of Mamdani against that stupid petition to ban him from the 9/11 remembrance ceremony.

Honestly I'd ban any kind of religious clothing and symbolsm in the public area.. hell ban religion as well, it didn't bring much good since the downfall of politeism with all the disgusting sexism, bigotry and culture of hate towards everyone outside the status quo. 

It's really not as much self expression as much as it's an extremely patriarchal opressive piece of clothing where it just puts a nail on the coffing on how disgusting their view on a woman is. Grow up, leave this bullshit behind and treat woman like a respectable human being.
