The studio version 100%, it would have been so much better to just keep a more simple and acoustic vibe.

The instrumental is nothing unique and is definitely generic EDM.

Lyrically, its not really that different to a lot of that optimism pop from the same era. It's just slightly more personalised.

Really solid tune, but I don’t think the production on the studio version has aged exceptionally well (and I honestly never really loved it to begin with).

I think it aged pretty badly, just like Hair and Bad Kids too

I honestly think Hair and Bad Kids have aged better than Gypsy. The fusion of the 80s pop/rock sound with electropop still feels pretty singular, whereas Gypsy just largely sounds like 2010s pop EDM

I think Venus, S*xxx Dreams, the title track and Applause aged well. The songs that aren’t strictly EDM (G.U.Y, Swine, Donatella, MJH) aged A LOT better!

This might be a bot take, but I think that there is nothing wrong with following a trend if you follow the best trends available at the time. The house vibe of it is incredible, and it was done a lot during thus era for a reason. Also, l think we should pay more attention to the fact that she did this acoustic instruments-meets-edm style a full year before Avicii made it trendy; it's just that the song wasn't released until Avicii started releasing his own stuff.
