honestly, just keep this frachise dead.. only the first movie was good, 2-3 were meh, 4-5 shouldn't exist.

This one will undoubtedly be better. It will out-gross the last one given how long since the last one was released and the excitement to see johnny depp as jack sparrow againĀ

Honestly, its more likely to continue the Disney + trend of seeing Disney movies suffer at the box office because people wait for it to hit streaming for "free".

Depends if they do a full theatrical release ofc.

Honestly, regardless of how people feel over the Depp/Heard case I don't understand why we're still at the point of making pointless sequels to an already flogged to death franchise at a time when movie box office scores have generally been ****.Ā

It looks like one of those behind the scenes manouvers where they keep on filming sequels just so they can renew the rights of the franchise. Like what they did with Hellraiser, just with 200x the budget lmao

I hope not, he’s still an abuser in my eyes no matter what any person or court says.Ā

And before anyone comes at me, ā€œsheā€ is also an abuser too. Both awful people.Ā

That was my takeaway from the trial too, that they're both volatile, abusive, deeply emotional people who should be nowhere near booze or drugs... or each other. It's like they romanticized their mutual volatility until it became severely dangerous.Ā

But they've both had work since then, so šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø I guess when the dust settles, all us bitches still gotta pay bills. It seems like they both equally want to move on from it all, so more power to them I guess. Doesn't mean I have to join the queue to see their films though.Ā

it's crazy to me that they're so locked in on continuing this franchise.Ā

when i think about disney in particular and some of their decision making with these franchises, sometimes i think potentially they do it to keep it "alive" due to more recent attractions or themed areas in the parks. to keep it relevant. with pirates though, this confuses me, because it was the first time they created a movie based off of one of their original attractions. it will likely always be relevant based on what the ride is. it's different than with Toy Story and the like.Ā

i am not sure how true that really is, but it is a thought that always passes through with each new sequel or remake.Ā

to continue this series after 3 was questionable at best. i'd love for it to be a great film, but i long for something new, meaningful, visually captivating, a good story. a new world to really enjoy, but that's also just with modern film in general

The third film barely had it's script when they started filming. It wasn't even complete, it went through numerous re-writes on set. This isn't really that surprising. I believe the second film stalled so long Disney almost cancelled it.Ā

I mean the public absolutely will not care and just watch it because ā€œomg millennial movie nostalgiaā€.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they got back Kiera Knightley’s transphobic ass and Orlando’s cheating ass too

Disney lives on the age old proverb of ā€œeverything old can become new againā€ that’s why they have gaps between generations to then revamp properties. Since animation is becoming a thing again I can totally see them making Anime versions of all their already live-action remakes of old cartoon movies.

If the KH Anime is successful especially.

Because Disney is on a big Asian market kick right now trying to get China to buy all their stuff, that’s why they made edits to BND so it could open in China for instance.

They’ll focus on theme parks (because they’re huge in Asian markets) and make anime next. That’s my prediction anyway.

it’s one of the most successful franchises of the 21st century - of course they’ll be continuing it!

Hollywood (and world of capitalism at large) is all about money in the end of the day, not about artistic integrity

As an adult, this probably isn't something I'd see anyway, even if I wasn't conflicted about Johnny Depp personally.
