ARTPOP gimmick is that there's no gimmick at all, it's an attempt to create a mystery and some kind of lore around absolutely nothing, it was supposed to be a marketing genius kind of thing, but ended up being something that to these days nobody knows wtf Gaga wanted to say with this album and wtf is ARTPOP could mean anything. She got so lost in the concept she created while working on the album.. I think if she ditched the whole thing and just called the album "Aura" or whatever, maybe the album could have been received differently, because throughout the album, you're still trying to find that "ARTPOP" thing that she so proudly talked about, and it's just not there.. it's just another EDM music. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

EART HL I NG 1,409
This is the first of these where I'm truly stumped at which one to choose. Both albums are on pretty equal footing for me. BRAT I feel is more polished in terms of style/angle/production whereas ARTPOP simmers to derivative EDM that feels messy in parts. ARTPOP got lost in the way it was hyped as some grand exploration of art and pop meshed together when the result is too run-of-the-mill with a few exceptions and the exceptions are a mixed bag. BRAT explores the idea a little better but even it has its moment where it falls flat. They both have their strong suits, both have songs that bring and sustain energy (GUY and SIAK for example) and they both have moments that are too much of a pace breaker (Dope and ITAIATT) I think I'm going to give a slight edge to BRAT simply for the fact that the "experimentation" of the sound pans out a little better than ARTPOP in my opinion
