Gwen is that former hero to me. I love ska music because of No Doubt and Gwen was always a cool dorky alternative girly. It’s saddening to realize being deceived. 
 

She had brought on a gay man holding up a “I broke up with my boyfriend” sign at a Sphere show. She even intentionally talked to a trans woman whom she had met prior to transitioning. Then years ago (before Hallow app) I went to her solo show and she said something like “this song is more relevant than ever today” before Just A Girl and it was when Roe vs Wade got overturned. 
 

These hateful right wing “influencer” grifters are vile and spew out diarrhea that makes Taylor Farms diarrhea seem appealing. It’s sad she even listens to even a single thing they say. 
 

I wish someone would confront her and demand a direct answer. No fluff, just double down and stand on business and say you support hateful “self righteous” bigots. 
 

 

One concerning thing I've noticed is how easy it is for a lot of people in the US to fall for fascist propaganda. JonTron (gaming and comedy YouTuber) is another strong example of this. He was staunchly pro-Bernie and immigration in 2016, but by the election a known fascist (I forget his name) managed to convince him to switch to right leaning beliefs. I think the US needs to adopt mandated classes that teach people in K-12 about identifying propaganda like countries like Finland do.

But the relevant anti-queer religion in this situation is Christianity so maybe we focus on that instead of bringing ones into the conversation that have nothing to do with what's going on here.

Christianity is a standout for me because I'm an American in the Midwest, I was raised in a Christian culture, and have intimate trauma that stems from this background. Further, Christianity has had an insipid reach due in large part to it's role as a colonial, imperial force, enforcing it's ideology on a global scale, with a heavy influence in the Americas.

So truthfully, no, Christianity earns a higher degree of ire from me, mostly due to proximity and familiarity.

Having said that, do I recognize and criticize other religions for being anti-queer? You're god damned right I do. But it's hard to justify spending time arguing that Confucianism is a threat to queer civil rights and how it's shaped Western perception when Christianity is clearly a more relevant, active, motivating ideology.
