Which artist(s) do you wish you could have lived through/experienced at their peak?

I've been listening to so much 80's music lately and it's absolutely crazy to think of all of the artists that were competing in the charts at the same time.

We think we were lucky to have Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Taylor, Beyonce etc all reigning at the same time, but imagine having MJ, Madonna, Whitney, Prince, George Michael, Queen etc. The fame they all achieved just feels like it was on an entirely different level. Especially MJ, I just can't even comprehend how famous he must've been at his peak.

There's so many other megastar 80's artists as well. It seemed like the decade that made megastars unlike any other.

I just wish I could've lived through it.

This. Some of us already are, but I think all of us of a certain age range will look back at some point & think "damn, we had it pretty good, music-wise" (during 2006/7-2011 especially)

But agreed about the 80s in general. Having heard my parents describe watching the Thriller MV for the first time on TV with their friends (a million times), you would think it was the televised moon landing lol

I’m more than okay with being able to experience Gaga and all of her peaks :vegas:

If not Gaga i’d like to be a a part of 80s Depeche Mode-mania, they basically had their own seperate subculture in my country (the fandom is still very strong, there are multiple DM-themed parties held every month, ship cruises with DM party theme:saladga:) I was even briefly taught about it at school 30 years later. The era of New Romantics, their music, clubs and fashion is very close to my heart.

...has anybody seen my disco stick?

Whitney, Madonna, would love to experience Michael's fame at his peak for real

I know it’s a cliche answer, but The Beatles. recently I went through a full deep dive of their discography, and I’d watch their live performances and films from each era after I listened to each album. It was very cool to see them grow as artists.

Michael Jackson would be another one, starting with Off the Wall. I did the same kinda watch/listen-through with him, and seeing his groundbreaking iconic stuff as it debuted to the rest of the world would have been so cool
