Arguments keeping my hit thread trending ❤️

Keep going 😍

Pop or not (although decidedly pop), here’s one thing we can all agree on: Slayyyter absolutely mops the floor with Addison Rae ♥️

And yet the genres you think it is, all take from pop

By this logic, that would make r&b and jazz the same genre. Are they??

One can influence the other. Doesn’t make them the same.

I mean traditional R&B absolutely is. And any pre-50s R&B absolutely can be described this way.

It's not even a question of influence. R&B was just an industry created label to market african-american jazz.

OH and here's the kicker.

Both of those are genres of pop music. Because all pop music is is an amalgamated collection of popular music from the last 75+ years of the western music industry.

And the only things used to identify pop music are repeated choruses and hooks in a basic verse-chorus structure with rhythms & tempos that can be danced to.

Now going back to your earlier comment about asking if people had even seen anything Slayyyter had said about the album.
I think it's clear you haven't because she has said the WGIA album inspirations include famous pop acts Lady Gaga (specifically The Fame and her work with Space Cowboy) and Madonna.
She said on Beat Up Chanel$ that she was leaning into her "soft pop vocals".

Honestly Ayesha Erotica deserves considering how much her nachos have been stolen by pop girls over the years.

I mean...taking a 5 year hiatus and wiping your music doesn't exactly help you build momentum as an independent act. Totally understand why she did it, and tbh I think most sane people would have made the same decision. But it definitely killed her career.

No, I’ve watched pretty much every interview from the era. Again, you’ve listed 2 songs from WGIA$ that lean into pop. That doesn’t make the whole record a pop album.

she has talked about her influences of MIA, and Soulwax, etc, but yet y’all just want to go back to “oh it’s influenced by Gaga”

You can be influenced by many many things and create something unique that doesn’t fall into one genre.

Pop = “popular music” I don’t need an explanation of the term.

And if thats your logic, everything is pop music.

I choose not to view it that way.

Like I said previously, you don’t have to agree with me.

Im sure your next quote will be an explanation on why your logic is right and mine isn’t.

But yet I have the superiority complex.

Like telling me to go wank off in a mirror?? Y’all are INSANE.

Expect rudeness when you respond like that. You can do it but for me it’s a “no-no” Hmmmm

Saying to get your ears checked wasn’t a personal attack on you but you sure treated it like one.

No he didn't.

He responded with an opinion about the music & then YOU became defensive

Flipped out?? I think y’all are just viewing it that way - I can voice an opinion just like you can.

I asked that user to stop quoting me because they quoted me BEFORE, on an entirely different thread. And said some of the craziest **** that literally made no sense considering we don’t even know each other. They talked about how I’m ashamed or hiding from something. Again - we don’t know each other so wtf??

have all the facts before you jump in.

I apologize for saying "flipped out," I edited that to "became defensive" before you responded but it didn't show up that way in your quote. I'm sorry.

I also didn't know that you two had been going back & forth in other threads.

But isn't it fair to say that you came in kind of hot by insinuating people on here only listen to LG & also have no taste, totally unprovoked? Lol

There’s literally other users talking about “no taste” before I even posted in this thread.

People on this site chose when and where they want to be sensitive to things.

I mean, you were rude asf to me and I didn’t even make any personal digs, I literally just argued that pop transcends genre and is a style and format that can be applied to any genre aesthetic. You can make pop R&B, pop rock, pop opera, pop that pulls from electroclash etc. Slayyyter pulling from indie sleaze and electroclash is not at odds with the music being designed as pop music.
