I think the ARTPOP cover is a good concept that just isn’t that well executed. There’s something off about the graphic design / the composition

this would have been a way better cover, like this just screams iconic/memorable :

She did a full new look, not just a hat. The artwork is a collage of her photos with the shard elements added on top. Realistically, they put more work into Mayhem. I also like that since Chromatica there is no font on the covers.

The one rare instance where I will wholeheartedly agree with @NUTELLA: I love standard MAYHEM’s album art. Timeless, classic, captures the auteur behind the album, serves as a visual canvas for all of the different sounds on the album without imposing any restrictive or dissonant aesthetic on the album. Great cover.

Striking yet simplistic enough to allow for as much (or as little) subtext as you want to assign it.

ALSO, if you put yourself in LG's shoes & scan the hand-made collage that Frank Lebon built following the photoshoot, it is kind of discreetly obvious which on is the correct choice, the only choice (imo).

If you hadn't selected a cover art for the album yet, it would sneak up on you & suddenly seem like THE ONE

Absolutely her best. It is so well done no track under it feels off cause it evoques a godly feeling like "everything everywhere". Always said that if it were to be released in 2040 or 2010 it wouldn't feel out of place, something that doesn't happen with the rest of her artworks. It is that perfect
