I mean sure, I can agree of that when it's support for a limited time. But when years go by and you don't even try to put some effort yourself for the support you get, I can't find a better word for it.

Yeah let's escape a warzone, political persecution, arrest and violence in countries that don't want you, navigating all of this in a language you don't speak....then land cleanly on your feet and clock in for the first shift the monday after you get your visa! YAAS!!!

The scapegoating surrounding the housing market is particularly laughable because like…in what world can undocumented folks performing blue collar labor afford homes when some natives doing high paying labor often also can’t afford them 😭 The math ain’t mathing, divas

Sorry but my english level can't proceed if you agree with me on that or not LOL

I’m agreeing with you and saying the propaganda that illegal immigrants are buying up houses doesn’t make sense lol

How long time do you think it's fair?

We have Ukrainians who came here in 2022 who are adapting, learning the language and working. Why can't people from Africa or ME who came here 2010-2015 do the same?

I’ve just never really understood how people bought into any version of the “welfare queen” argument about any class of people because that class of people just…largely doesn’t exist. Most recipients of social welfare across the western world are only on it temporarily between employment and there’s basically no group or class of people that has ever become totally welfare dependent.

Apart from the long term seriously incapacitated disabled and young people with 'anxiety' who never leave the house....because the government doesn't provide adequate mental health support to untangle their knots. Here in the UK there's uproar because the main disability benefit PIP has far too many people citing 'anxiety' 'adhd' etc....but there's no NHS giving them any help other than "six free sessions of CBT" which is just bullshit and is the only one that's provided because it's cheap. It'll be the same for migrants. No support to integrate, it's probably traumatizing moving from one culture to another alone, nevermind with trauma and prejudice on top of that. Is there anything to address this? Nothing at all

Oh ok great i just never heard some of the words you used lmao. Back to topic, yeah, what I was implying is that we've got bigger issues like: people in my country two or three decades ago were able to buy houses without much effort (kinda) and now the common thing is to live with your parents until you're 30. Isn't that a big ****ing issue compared to "some immigrants are benefiting from our system" bitch if that were to even be true do i really have to care about that? my brother is 32 and can't even buy a house with his boyfriend, paying a 1200€ rent for a small tiny flat...

I think viewing it as a task with a deadline oversimplifies it. We really have the appreciate the complexity and trauma at play and ultimately it's a problem that's only solved by compassion. As much as you think being critical pushes people to 'solve' the problem, it actually entrenches the problem. We need solutions that work and they only come into being through willingness to be compassionate and understanding.

I live in Sweden. We have had a too generous welfare system for decades

Who are you claiming is taking advantage of the welfare system and in what way? Because, as far as I can see, asylum seekers only get limited access to welfare benefits in Sweden while their claims are being processed. As far as refugees are concerned, that issue does seemed to be problematic for Sweden because many refugees don’t speak the language when they arrive, so consequently, opportunities are fairly low. However, the data shows that as they learn the language, employment rises (usually within the first 5 years of residence), so acting as if refugees are loafers and not folks actively trying to assimilate doesn’t appear to be accurate either.

I'm sorry but I won't be compassionate and understanding for people who will only take but not give anything back.
If Ukrainian refugees can do it, so can people from middle east too.

Update (@1:51):

There are videos circulating proving that Morocco may have had some degree of involvement. It looks like the members saying this was done intentionally to attack Spain in some way are, in fact, correct.

So by that argument you think a child should not receive health care or a native person who has never worked before simply because they did not want to (yes, these people do also exist) should not either?

I mean still, Ukrainian refugees are doing well here, they are trying to make an effort. Why is it so different from those from the islamic countries? Why should they get a free pass?

I don't know what standards you have. I think there's a difference between a child and an adult, highly capable of work.
