Controversiaga 16,103
I honestly feel she was great before the fame was released, and up to born this way was able to carry that greatness but then burn out happens and once an artist feels like they’ve said everything they want to say , they no longer know what they want to say now, and her life changed drastically, so more and more songwriters needed to hop on to help out and that’s when her lyrics got more and more generic and basic and extremely unimpressive uninspired and not clever at all. Abracadabra felt like a once in a decade GEM because it was able to do what she use to be able to do Edited Friday at 06:35 PM by Controversiaga Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
steven 6,540
I think she's an average songwriter and her lyrics can be cringey sometimes, but she sure knows how to write melodies. I just wish she'd diversify her themes a bit. It feels like it's always love, men, breakups, or death. I'd love to see her work with more co-writers for LG8. Babylon Dynasty 1,855
she's just fine imo. She knows how to write a pop song and I do think that the topics she talks about in different albums can feel repetitive (I think it's very noticeable in MAYHEM), but I don't think it's that bad. And yk, many will disagree but I think her most inspired album in this aspect is Joanne. Come To Mama, Angel Down, Hey Girl, Grigio Girls. These songs have some of the most beautiful lyrics of her career imo. When it comes to other albums, I have mixed opinions but I don't think Chromatica is as bad as people say. It has some misses but then there are songs like SFA, Replay, 911 and Fun Tonight too. Just because she doesn’t spell it out doesn’t mean the meaning isn’t there. That said, do I think she’s the greatest lyricist? No. She has some great peaks and some low valleys. But songwriting is more than lyrics and very few are as good with packing multiple hooks into a song as Gaga is.
PornoDanceFight 2,054
She's fine. At times she outwrites her peers, at others, she can be as average as them. I think some of her more straightforward tracks work for what they're trying to accomplish (I will never not belt "Hold My Hand," even though it is paint-by-numbers-movie-soundtrack fare), but I'd argue her only "bad" lyrics are when she's purposefully trying to write trite lyrics (some of BTW and Joanne, and a lot of ARTPOP). However, I think she is a phenomenal melodicist and composer. 1

TheWineMonster 28
I think she's amazing, she can write deep songs to sob and silly fun pop songs to perfection, she can be camp, serious, fun and she writes great choruses and bridges! 1

I think it works in-song as both uplifting and satirizing the subject matter. Edited Friday at 06:21 PM by PornoDanceFight 1

Did Whitney Houston write her some of songs - not sure here
