Is Gaga a Mediocre Songwriter?

Damn the Gaga Songwriting SLANDER in here is CRAZY!

Nearly all of Gaga's songs have deeper/dual meanings to them. Sure there are some not so great ones, but after all she has written Songs like "Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, Marry The Night, Always Remember Us This Way & Abracadabra". Her writting within a concept is her speciality and she's one of pops best songwriters to do so.

I mean shes a decent song writer but her biggest iconic hits were not written and produced exclusively by her. Could she do that on her own? Hard to say

I think her abilities as a writer are underestimated because her music especially the hits, tend to be very repetitive and full of Gaga-isms. But being capable of writing earworms for 15+ should absolutely be highlighted when talking about Gaga.

I bet a lot of non pop stans would still be able to sing some of those iconic gaga repetition from memory from different songs. Most recently I think Disease, Abracadabra and Vanish Into You have some of her best lyrics ever.

I think she’s very good at what she does, which is write hooky, infectious, hamfisted, theatrical fantasies

I’d say it’s mixed rather than mediocre. 

Musically, she’s a great songwriter for hooks, rhythm and melodies. And they’re generally getting stronger.

I actually think her lyrics peaked earlier in her career. 

TFM — BTW — ARTPOP run had some amazing lyrics.
