I'm sorry but Madonna, Mariah and Britney are not as artistically and vocally disciplined as Gaga.

I am so tired of the argument that someone is superior just because they entered into the industry first. What about the question of actual merit in vocals and craft? I honestly feel like people often say this just because of peer pressure.

I have always admired Madonna's artistic vision for her albums and that's undeniable but she has never been able to move an arena or stadium to tears with the sincerity of her voice in the way Gaga, Adele and Whitney could.

I actually would rather see Beyonce and Michael Jackson (if we're counting male pop stars) above Gaga.

but this pyramid is absolutely not about vocals or discipline

It has a generic title which includes any aspect of what we consider to make a good pop star

Hmm... Madonna at the top I agreed with but instantly I'm like hmm... lmao just very incomparable icons! I think Cher is more of an icon than Whitney, but in terms of "musicians," "pop divas," I think Whitney absolutely supersedes, Janet is beyond Cher, Britney is even beyond. Katy?? Way too high. 2x Academy Award winner 4 Big Four Grammies in one night Billie Eilish below DEMI?? girl...

I don't know if I'll ever agree with one of these pyramids lol.

I'd swap Janet and Cher and move Madonna down to just have Whitney, Janet, and her at the top instead of just Madonna over everyone (because that's simply insane).

Madonna has the best sales, Whitney has the most talent, and Janet has the best music in this entire pyramid and she's the better entertainer of the three. Seems fair for it to be a three way tie.

Gaga being one level below Janet feels fine. Equal with Beyoncé but nobody else is in the same league as those two so the pyramid would have three on top, then two, then the rest of the riff raff.

Take Taylor off entirely 'cause she's not an artist, she's a product.

I don't think I care about anyone else in this pyramid lmao. Maybe move Billie up, she's at least on par with Katy in a few relevant ways. Her incredible talent and discography has to be enough to put her on par with a legacy artist.

Ngl Cher is fully under Madonna. Cher is an icon in her own right, but Madonna’s discog mops, her cultural impact is broader, and she pushed the envelope much more.

When I think of Cher I don't even think of her music, I think of her personality. Which is funny 'cause I've been to one of her concerts :rip:

Acting and just being a funny bitch is her strength. The music slaps too though and she got picked up by the gay community and embraced it pretty thoroughly. I think she hit her "alright, queers, come get me" stride around the same time as Janet :music:

Babylon Dynasty

who's the girl next to Adéla? (on the right).

Also, no way Camila is over Rosalía. :reductive:

Madonna is the best selling female artist of all time. She’s ranked together with MJ, Elvis and The Beatles.

She has set the blueprint for female popstars.

She is a very outspoken advocate for gay rights.

One of the best performers with a deep level of high quality artistry.

Yes, #1 rightfully earned.

The girlies need to recognize.

People running into this thread talking about firsts and blah blah. But Madonna — wherever she got her inspiration — she's still going like a freight train, and have an incredible legacy behind her.

She's not my girl, but you cannot deny she is *the* girl.

Okay now on a separate note

I looked at this and it's very interesting.

Katy is too high up. I would replace her with Nicki (I know, I know) or Ari. Like, she keeps trying, and it's just not landing. And unlike other pop acts, she isn't settling into her own lane. She just keep trying to be mass produced when she lacks the masses.

Britney's impact can't be overstated, but I also feel weird seeing someone put so high who ultimately didn't have much musical talent.

And lastly: Lana Del Rey is a psy op intended to drive me crazy.
