I'm sorry but Madonna, Mariah and Britney are not as artistically and vocally disciplined as Gaga.

I am so tired of the argument that someone is superior just because they entered into the industry first. What about the question of actual merit in vocals and craft? I honestly feel like people often say this just because of peer pressure.

I have always admired Madonna's artistic vision for her albums and that's undeniable but she has never been able to move an arena or stadium to tears with the sincerity of her voice in the way Gaga, Adele and Whitney could.

 

I actually would rather see Beyonce and Michael Jackson (if we're counting male pop stars) above Gaga.

If the graphic was a straight line arranged chronologically by career activity, Cher would come before Madonna

But it’s a pyramid stacked in order of overall legacy/impact on pop music.

Again, a lot of it is a mess. But putting Madonna at the top was correct

and as i said i completely disagree EVEN in that context. Donna Summer pioneered the concept of eras and dance music in pop -- a legacy that still exists to this very day. Cher brought camp spectacle, big shows and feminist views on being the "boss" of her career. 

I'd say the actual pyramid should be;

                    Donna Cher
     Madonna Janet  Whitney Kylie
           Britney Xtina Beyonce 
         Gaga Katy Taylor Rihanna
