ThisGuyTony 34,950
She actually made a cameo again in a 2024 episode My biggest issue with this episode is that it was bland. Where were the jokes? And I don’t like what she did to her voice. It doesn’t sound like her at all. The Gaga references and songs are cute. But again this is The Simpsons. Where. Are. The. Jokes? Hadrian 2,637
I watched it twice and figured The Simpsons just wasn't a fun show anymore lol. rosetta stone is rolling in her grave rn 🙏🥀🥀

I think they were clearly grateful for the exposure and so they spent the whole episode basically eating her a$$ and doing PR for her, which is why the episode has always rubbed me the wrong way tbh. You see I didn’t read it as a$$ eating, it felt like they were poking fun at her excessive style, overly nice personality and bits. And she played along with the campiness. That’s how I read it anyway.

Eh, the Simpsons is famously pretty irreverent and culturally critical, so leaving any criticism of Gaga to “she’s pretty over the top and parasocial with her fans (complimentary)” feels pretty defanged and more or less like glorified PR. Old school Simpsons absolutely would’ve had a more sophisticated send up of her for sure. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
imogen2133 566
Idc what anyone says I still like this episode, I mean it being about Gaga is a big reason why and I remember watching it with my mum at the time when it came out. I wish Gaga would do more voice acting cause she was good here and I know the ep is rated quite low but I haven't watched any other episodes so idk how it compares to those but anyway I like it.
Lucas 31,130
Imo the issue with the episode is that it was too focused on her being a kindness punk. People watch the Simpsons for the dumbness of it or the humor of it, not for what the episode delivered

At the time, Lady Gaga was peak overexposure so people hated it, plus the episode felt (although gagzus nailed it with the true meaning I think) like a paid fan service/pr stunt. he/him/his
