oof this kinda implies theyve been scrapped from her new album and pushed off into a seperate project, doesn't it? i dont wanna be mean but i cant imagine whatever nonsense she cooks up after them is going to do that much better so why not just stick with the original idea at this stage 😭 she never has faith in her projects but whatever she creates next is literally always worse so likeee

she's doing this "droplet" thing where she doesn't identify singles with albums. It seems to me that she is testing what sounds land so she can build an album off them. Sadly for her, nothing has landed yet

That’s what I’m saying :awkney:

An Abra vinyl/cd single could’ve pushed it top 10.

Disease and TDD also deserves vinyls/cd singles

The only possible reason I could think of is perhaps Gaga wanted to push more album sales and the MAYHEM concept instead of individual songs on vinyls....Eco Queen? Idk but they definitely didnt push as hard as they could cuz noway was Abra THE Bad Romance of our modern era and once again didnt make it to #1...baffles me

I mean if you look at the promo schedule for Abra at the time it was pretty heavy. She did a bunch of appearances. Then she had just done the Joker press tour, released Disease, released Harlequin, etc. Mayhem was delayed without much word as well. It would not surprise me there were issues with what she was already pressing for physicals and that's why they decided not to do further physicals. Or overall the teams in charge of it were busy.

I also don't think Disease was the original plan for the lead single. And if they did change plans around, that would have also blocked doing physicals because of the lead in time.

Like LPs require around 3 months for a turn around time. There's less manufacturers who make 7" singles so at best that's a 3 month time frame as well.

So if they switched up on singles (and I do think Shadow was the initial idea) then physicals just became unrealistic to deliver.

interesting to think about, especially when you consider that PC was late in the album's creation and she wanted to ditch everything for that sound

I wonder if that's where the idea for Disease as the lead came about because she was feeling her grunge pop oats

mother, what must i do?

I think they intended for Abra to be the lead single tbh. It serves a better purpose as a lead, plus the fact the single release window of Halloween and close to Joker’s release would’ve made more sense and then when the first bunch of early test reviews came in for the movie they pivoted. It’s sad tbh because Mayhem has had her strongest run of singles ever tbh (inc DWAS).

I’ll forever HATE the incels who saw the first cut of the movie and gave feedback that Gaga was in it too much and to cut some of the music numbers like the That’s Entertainment one when Arthur gets arrested.

Knowing Disease/Abra etc were all late in the cycle.

I firmly am on the camp that Shadow was included in the TCB film as both the era tease and the lead single.

But between the film being finalised and the premiere she started shifting into the industrial/grunge mindset which then became the focus & the roll out changed to what we got.

Or SOME artists clogged the few vinyl companies schedule with their 85 variants and therefore Gaga's wouldn't be finished in time so they just passed on it...
