Strange question, but here goes.......

Do you ever wonder what it would be like to listen to Gaga's music as a non-fan? Not as a hater, but more of a neutral or someone who appreciates her music, but hasn't necessarily followed her closely throughout the years.

I find that as a fan, i've listened to Gaga's music so much that i perhaps hear the music differently compared to a more casual listener. It almost dwarfs my perspective. I know the songs so well and have picked up on so many subtleties and intricacies over the years.

Strange outlook I know, but just something I pondered about when listening to Bad Romance for the 17,403rd time.

I honestly would like to know how I would react to her music as a non-fan.. I think I would appreciate her voice and her singing techniques, but maybe some songs would be either too noisy or too experimental? which for a fan not at all, but for a non-fan, a song like Schibeh would be very experimental..

Like I see it with my husband, he loves Gaga but not a a die hard fan, he knows the deepcuts through me, but he's more strict with his likes and dislikes, so he would skip if SL would come up on the radio or a playlist.. but I won't, I would bop to it, regardless of my opinions about the song.

I think about this all the time!

I have been a Stan for so long I know I’m biased, but it oddly goes both ways. Like sometimes I acknowledge I’m sort of glazing her but at other times it feels like I’m being overly critical or hyper vigilant to the point of not being able to enjoy a performance in the moment because I’m thinking about how it will be perceived by wider audiences.

In a weird way I almost think I would like some of her stuff more if I weren’t so analytical about it

I still feel this way when I listen to pre-ARTOP stuff 'cause I was just a casual fan back then. Didn't even keep up with her until Applause dropped and Swinefest won me over hard.

I still don't really feel totally connected to anything from TF, TFM, or BTW

I wish I could rediscover gaga again (like im still doing rn with Madonna, but her music just isnt as good )

I think most of my friends are friendly but fairly neutral to her. Thoughts that have been shared with me.

Alice and Rain on Me stood out from Chromatica in 2020 and often played as a tonic to the pandemic.

A lot of her deep cuts have bypassed people but the odd song cuts through - Scheisse and Bloody Mary come to mind.

My niece is fond of her - The Dead Dance was her in via Wednesday.

I think her earnestness and vocal expression of her struggles has grated at times in total honesty.

There was a lot of excitement about House of Gucci - nobody really mentioned Joker 2 or Harlequin to me so assume they didn't really make any impact.

They have appreciated her earlier politics, which I think came at a time when female pop stars were fairly neutral in the public domain.

In general amongst my peers they do seem to regard her as genuinely talented and one of the better performers of our generation. Folk have come to this at different points, and I think a long time ago she was seen as fairly gimmicky. She's definitely regarded as a "gay person's" artist, which sadly I think limits her reach a bit.

Her speech before Swine spoke to me in ways that nothing before that did  

I was already ready to join the club finally but she really said "lemme show you why you belong here for real" with that one

Immediately took her from "a really cool pop star" to "icon I should worship"
