I mean im so intrigued because a lots of artists being MPGs in the mid 2000s-early 2010s are on a sort of legacy artist kick right now - yes even including Gaga with Mayhem. I think Mayhem might be strongest in terms of audiences knowing the words to the new music.

But the pop landscape has changed so much. I do expect an eclectic album. She’s gonna have revisit and alter and update older sounds, kinda like Gaga did. Kinda like Madonna’s doing. Even acts like Hilary Duff (successfully yay I love her) and the Bussycat Flops (tragique)

So I do expect r&b, hip hop, and Caribbean influenced island pop. I do expect some electronic dance. And I do expect rock music influences. All bits of what she’s done before. That way it mixes nicely in a live tour setlist that feels like a celebration of her career and previous hits mixed in with new songs. Like last night - doing both Run This Town but also Btch Better Have My Money? It makes sense to me.

Like shes the consostent catchy singles kind of artist. Theres no shame in that tbh, artists like that have value in the industry also

 

But they are also the type of artist that when they try to go too deep and too artistic and symbolic etc etc they always miss the mark cuz thats not the kind of artist they are. Like Katy Perry for example, she sucks at that too

 

Just make good music and dont think too deep. Those casual catchy tunes is what shes good at and literally imo no one was as good as Riri at consistently pumping out good tunes one after the other

I'll believe it when I see it. I believe a music exec said it was coming before the end of 2021 and...yeah. I've never said she'll never release, she might, but as time goes on, it's clear she wouldn't have much desire to make any more after that and if an album does come to fruition, it may well be her farewell one. I've come to the conclusion that Rihanna just wanted to be rich and famous. She just went the singing route because it was the most obvious track to achieve that. How else was she going to get famous? There weren't many options in 2003. If she was 16 today, instead of trying to become a singer, she likely would've become a beauty influencer. As soon as another venture which made more money for her (and wasn't as arduous and time consuming) came along, she was jumping ship and didn't want to look back. And it was also clear that she wanted children and to make that her ultimate focus. But her passion for music dimmed a long time ago.
