This is something completely on brand for Justin. He has always entwined himself in pop culture and the zeitgeist during his entire time as Prime Minister, since the beginning when he was just an MP, he changed the political landscape and entire identity of politicians and altered the political zeitgeist not just the pop culture zeitgeist. Canada was tired of the ineffective policies of Harper and his pandering to the wealthy class. And also, NO! Many Liberals in Canada DO NOT regret voting for Trudeau, we regret voting for Carney, but he was the lesser of two evils at the time of election. Carney however has since adopted conservative policies that are destructive and detrimental to Canada's future. I'd rather have Trudeau back than Carney in power. Trudeau literally managed to get any business investment in Canada on life support. There has been virtually no productivity growth since he took over. Its also under his government that the wrekless decision to take in over 1 million immigrants a year we had no infrasteucture to accomodate came from Just because someone is a "Liberal" and more left doesnt mean they will execute those strategies effectively and imo he certainly didnt. Also I dont know how much @gumzy3000 knows about politics but since your new here just an fyi, he is Canadian also Edit: I will take Carney over Trudeau any day Edited yesterday at 04:53 PM by Economy

I have no definitive proof if thats what ur asking for. Its more like a number of things that add up together that give u an impression He often was very good at speaking (better speaker than Carney to hos credit, Carney is actually quite bad as a speaker) and played a good game of always making stuff appear more grand on the surface than it really was. And sometimes he didnt seem to take a hard stance one side or another on an issue to not upset one side or another of political spectrum. He seemed to kinda walk on eggsheels to be as least politically non confrontational as possible Ill give you an example, oil and pipelines. This is a huge thing in Canada btw because we are the largest net exporter of oil in the Western industrialized world and 4th largest producer overall after USA, Saudi Arabia and Russia. Its a lot of revenue relative to our population He would never outright say he was against oil development and would acknowlege it as part of our economy. But then to please environmentalists he put in these carbon taxes, all kinds of complicated environmental laws to approve a pipeline etc etc. He never really showed support for it but refused to say he was against it and gave a lot of mixed signals. In the end the company building it got tired of the roadblocks and pulled out of the project the the Federal Government had to spend $34B of TAX PAYERS MONEY to complete the project. It could have been done by private sector or not at all. But what a waste to spend so much on it and while not every factor was directly the government, the overall environment and mood he created was largely to blame imo. He also let the Provinces fight with eachother over the issue with very mild intervention to not anger either side. What kind of leadership is that? At least Carney says he supports pipelines and oil sector and doesnt sugar coat it and has made it easier to do it. But hes also clear he wants to continue to keep some level of carbon tax, decarbonization of the sector and makes it clear how Canada will simultaneously work to grow our clean energy grids via commited nuclear projects, wind and solar etc. So at least you know what to expect and what to not expect. IMO Carney is more clear and decisive. Trudeau did take a few stances (like legalizing weed to be fair) but overall if u look back over 10 years there was an enourmous amount of trying to figure out what the heck exactly he was trying to do for Canada all this time. The amount of mixed signaling and innefective compromises is astounding and literally feels like it froze Canada and stagnated it for 10 years which the numbers also back up. He managed to kill confidence in the 1 and only sector Canada is competitive in (resources) but failed miserably to create any inspirational investment in anything else to compensate. Nice words dont get the job done. Then there was the whole thing with Christia Freelands resignation. She was our finance minister and deputy prime minister. They had some disagreement (among other things) because Trudeau was trying to boost the ailing economy with random bonus checks after so many warnings there was deeper fundamental reasons why Canada was stagnant and doing nothing to adress it. Giving our money randomly is what a failed state does when they are out of ideas (excluding economy emergencies caused by severe recession, pandemic, natural disasters etc which we werent in when he did that) Bo wonder his approval by the end was like 22% or something crazy like that. I cant remember when (if ever) a Prime Ministers approval ever got that low before Edited yesterday at 05:20 PM by Economy
