It shouldn't be deemed insensitive to point out the obvious when it's a very unhealthy situation and you're coming from a place of concern. Not calling this stuff out for what it is only makes these EDs worse. It's not that long ago that she was making video saying that she was at her unhealthiest when she was called healthy and that we shouldn't talk about people's bodies. This is a very common response from ED sufferers - deflecting from their illness and re-framing it as we're the ones with the problem. The Eugenia Cooney situation is even weirder. I've heard from former ED sufferers who have said odd things about how she should be handled and I actually can't even remember what they said now, but it amounted to a big load of nothing and basically that we have to sit back and let her waste away. Bizarre. Ariana needs an intervention and I don't think that should be an issue with an adult when they're doing this to themselves. Yes, forcing an adult to do something they don't want to do isn't ideal but you can't condone it and sit idly by as they destroy themselves. Indeed, whoever suggested that she tours and puts out a new album does not have her best interests at heart. I love u Lana but please stay out of this

Im saying she naturally has a protruding ribcage that gets more visible under certain lights and weight fluctuations. And what I'm saying is she probably has been suffering from an ED for most of her life. I can't with the "she naturally has..." line, she's way through her 30s, not a 10yo girl Edited Tuesday at 03:56 PM by elegidadedios
StrawberryBlond 15,467
Perhaps the recent comeback of "thin is in" and the rise of Ozempic has warped people's minds just like it did back in the day when we're trying to brainwash ourselves to believe that visible ribs and sternum on a grown woman is normal and healthy. I remember that I once saw a magazine describe these visible chest bones as a "xylophone chest" and it's very apt. The skin in this area shouldn't be so thin that we can see them. You can't even see these bones on children. You shouldn't be seeing them on adults. It's not politically incorrect to point out that someone is dangerously underweight. How exactly are you meant to help someone if you can't acknowledge their problem? marivbst 121
(ED ISSUE MENTIONED, CAUTION NEEDED) . . . So, there has been a lot of debate online about if we could/should talk about Ariana's weight and health issues. ED aside, talking about it will actually makes her see it and get a grip or worsen it? I've never handled with ED, my aunt has it, but not at Ari's level. It's common knowledge that eating won't suffice, as it is a mental health issue. So, what can the fans actually do about it? . . .

Economy 52,611
I hope shes ok and that nothing is seriously wrong. I will say... i was naturally very thin up until age 25, like scrawny, i weighed 125lbs being almost 5'11 Some were concerned I was ill or with something severely wrong. Now i was a bit depressed and my appetite not great but I was eating every meal plus some snacks so I wasnt starving myself. I think calories on the low end combined with genetic thinness that runs in my family made me ultra thin even tho my calories on the low end were nothing insanely low and I felt ok physically even tho i didnt look it Im just hoping in her case her health is not as bad as it looks but if something is seriously wrong she needs help
NewEnglandWitch 19
So I’ll be vulnerable. As someone who definitely does not consume enough calories and struggles with navigating that…. People like StrawberryBlonde thinking they need to intervene have actually increased the stress and shame more…. Which worsens the problem. So no…. You don’t need to comment on her body… or anyone’s
liamgaga 789
Very naturally thin too but I eat fine. Probably not as many calories or protein as I should but I dont measure it as i dont have an ED and im not bothered by it. Do I wish I had a different type of body? Absolutely but whilst others may think i look unhealthy or thin i know I eat enough, and I eat well with lots of fruit and veg and im fine. It pains me watching so many people comment on a woman's weight like this. It will be making it worse, even if it coming out of a good place of concern. The issue is if she does have an ED it is mental health related and therefore no amount of people online talking about it will help bit it will make it worse.
