whoopdeedoo 75
I believe that some of Cheek To Cheek rivals Chromatica, but I do not really know if that is so controversial. zoowalalalalalaaaaaa

But in comparison to her earlier tracks that felt a little more bold and avant garde Yeah, I definitely see what you mean. I think there are def a handful of tracks (ZB, TDD, KFL) that feel that way on MAYHEM, but I still think songs like Disease, Abra, GOE, and PC still fall into the category of bolder dark pop and I like that there’s a balance between the heavier and groovier styles. That being said, I’m also looking forward to seeing where she goes from here We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I was hungry for more and then as soon as she said the singles weren’t representative of the album I kinda got sad. I am especially more excited for LG8 then I even was for mayhem because for the first time - I really have no guesses on what’s coming next and it’s going to surprise me for worse or better.

The songs on mayhem that fit the same “vibe” feel more thematic than conceptual I guess is what I’m saying. Something’s missing. It could just be that the former is just better written. it’s a lyrical thing. I feel like her lyricism is what’s really holding her back from creating another record in the same vein of born this way- the fame monster. There’s an edge to those songs she’s missing now. The songs on mayhem felt a little more “the monster mash” type vibes ( which again I do love). But in comparison to her earlier tracks that felt a little more bold and avant garde. Hope this makes sense. OMG yes. This is exactly how I felt when Mayhem came out (and still do) it is one of her weakest albums lyrically and the concepts are all very surface level or very "spirit Halloween" in the way it is done. BTW and TFM had more lyrical depth and were much more conceptual overall and had more strong storytelling elements. Some examples are "Zombieboy" which is just comparing the guy she likes (who has a girlfriend btw) to a zombie because he hangs out at the bar a lot and gets drunk and stays up late and about partying all night and "Garden Of Eden" is about how she is tempting the guy to be with her and have a one night stand like the snake tempts Adam And Eve toward sin. I still also feel the closest we get to dark pop is Disease, Abra and maybe The Beast and that the marketing, cover and the first singles were misleading for what we got. I know the production’s great and everything, I just can’t identify what makes it sound like that for me… My b00vs are hopelessly huge
