Taylor swift has a magnitude of cultural power and capital that hasn't been possible in the past without internet and real-time global culture exchange.

She now has 2 billions of dollars worth of assets, with tens of millions of dollars of income at least every year, and there are millions of people around the world who worship her.

She wields that power very well. For herself.

 

And this power could be used to make a lot of meaningful change. Instead, she focuses it on herself. 

With great power comes great responsibility. It's a shame she doesn't use her power for good, especially during these times.

Sure, she "endorsed" Kamala but it was the bare minimum. Yes there's risk in speaking out but she's doing more harm in being complacent, silent, and not using her HUGE platform to make a difference.

As a Rangers fan, I know about the Dolans all too well.

Your point is very fair.

 

I was actually talking about this with my dad today.  I was saying how it's a joke the big A List celebs that are Knicks fans like Ben Stiller per se are these big vocal democrats yet the owners of the joint are buddying up to Trump and inviting him to Game 3.  He more or less was like when you get to my age you realize that's just how people are for the most part.  Out for themselves.

 

Admittedly since I like Gaga more than Taylor or the Knicks I'd probably be willing to cut her more slack in that regard.  Still personally I don't worship Gaga or it's not beneath me to find certain aspects of her I'll say that are disappointing.    

 

I mean doesn't it seem a little tackier though to have a wedding in MSG vs a concert?
