Amazon announces new AI Podcasts for US customers

“Amazon announced the latest update to Alexa+ on Monday: the ability to generate podcast episodes on demand.

The new feature, called “Alexa Podcasts,” is rolling out to customers in the U.S. today. Amazon describes the capability as a way to “turn any topic you’re curious about into a podcast episode, ready in minutes.

To use the feature, all users have to do is ask Alexa+ to create a podcast about a topic they’re interested in. Users don’t need to upload documents, write scripts, or plan anything ahead of time. Instead, Alexa+ researches the request, gathers information, and generates a quick overview of what the episode will cover. From there, users can tweak things like the length, tone, and focus of the episode.”

I’m sure anyone on here has seen how I feel about generative AI (yes this does count) but this is horrid.

Voice Actors have already started having less work because of AI and now this will make it even worse.

I can't believe the future of culture and technology is listening to made up ****. Like surely not? I ****ing loathe the billionaire class. We can't have ANYTHING. Not even art or content we make ourselves.

I hear you. It's fing infuriating. Beyond. 

But we can keep fighting! We can just reject these AI slop podcasts. There are a MILLION human podcasts. Keep listening to those and make sure they're remain human created.

Honestly, not to sound too dramatic, but it's a bit of a fight for the very existence of art.

Not dramatic at all. They don't want us introspecting and creating, that's not very profitable. But it's funny because they don't want to employ us either so I fail to see the rationale

I keep hoping that people will become so infuriated that they pass a law against making anything with AI. Keep it to information compilation or access ease.

But it seems the general population love it too much, so sadly I don’t think it’ll change until regular people start having their voices and faces stolen for content.
